Engine hesitating

I have a 96 gl with 90,000 miles on it. Recently it has begun to hesitate on acceleration. The check engine light blinked for about a minute then went off, and it still is hesitating. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

If the check engine light binked it is usually caused by an ignition miss. It probably stored a code. Take it to a knowlegable source to have codes checked to start with.
