97 remote problems

My remote for my keyless entry is old and I want to get a new one because it is not beeping when I lock or unlock it only beeps when it feels like it? Any suggestions or where to find a new remote? Thanks so much..

So it doesn't chirp if the battery on the remote is weak?

No idea, but replacing the battery is the obvious answer.

Ok..I got a new remote and programmed it and its still not chirping..any ideas now?!

Sounds to me like it is a problem with the keyless entry system. Or a problem with the horn/speaker that emits the noise.

Do you ever wash your engine? I do, and the last time my "chirp" sound changed for a couple of days and I attributed it to me getting the horn wet. Now it's normal again. As you have already found out, it's not the battery or the remote itself if it in fact is locking and unlocking, but not making the sound. Look into the horn. Could just be a bad or loose connection.
