LSD swap from 89 to my 95?

i went to this junk yard and i saw this older 240 there. I spun the shaft and both wheels spin in the same direction so obviously it has LSD. Before i got and quickly grab that thing and run home to put it on my car, i was wondering if anyone know if it will fit my 95 240? the one that i looked at is from a 89 i believe. I seemed like it would bolt on. What are the thing i need to look for when swapping from older 240? Also im not sure if its an auto or manual, but the tranny is gone so im guessing it was a 5spd. Dont know how many miles on the car either. And doesnt anyone know the final gear ratio on the older LSDs?

I think they were all 4. something, but you might want to get one from a newer car. I really don't know if it will bolt up or not, but ask around.

You need to change the diff cover and maybe the bolts/output shaft depending on if it is a 5 star or 6 bolt configuration. Also it depends on if you have abs or not as well as if they diff you pulled has abs. I believe the length is correct for the diff, but to be on the safe side, you should remove the unit from the pumpkin and stick it in your 95. 89's never came with lsd so I am assuming the previous owner put it in himself. Only the 91-94 has lsd which was only on hicas version. 95 and up was a package deal and there isn't a sure way to tell which model had them...meaning some se didn't have lsd. If you have an orange sticker on the diff that you pulled, it is a sure sign it has vlsd, but the only real way to actually know for sure is if you open it. About the auto and manual thing, it doesn't really matter for the diff. As long as you have the proper driveshaft you should be fine.

so to know for sure if its LSD or not without opening it is to spin one side and make sure the other side spins the same direction and the drive shaft is freely spinning correct? or do you check it by actually spinning the drive shaft and seeing if both sheels spin in the same direction? will both ways work for checking if its LSD or not? or one isnt the right way to check?
