tough question, headlight switch

ok, i got a problem that maybe somebody could help me with. i just finished putting in a couple subs and an amp and a some speakers in my 97 Grand prix, and i had it all goin for a couple minutes without the engine running, and of course the lights inside and stuff like that tended to fade out and stuff.

but as soon as i turned the car on my headlight control module started smoking pretty bad, so i took off the dash and unhooked it and took it out. i was just wondering if anyone might know the reason of why this is happening, and if they know of a way to fix it.
