Shipping an engine

How have you guys shipped engines after buying them?

A buddy of mine bought a complete turbo t-bird motor on ebay and we are trying to get it shipped down here without paying ridiculous amounts of cash...

I don't know what you consider "ridiculous amounts of cash" but I truck ship heavy items like that all the time for about $150 approx 1500 miles, loaded on a pallet.

Well, so far everyone we've looked at wants 500 or so to ship it from New Hampshire to Louisiana...
