93 z34 not charging

My 93 z34s batterie went dead,before that sometimes the amp meter would peg over to 18 and sometimes stay,and sometimes the lights would dim in a kinda pulse with the heater blower,I had the altenator changed, but now sometimes it isnt charging,what should I do or check next? please help!!!

check the connections at the battery and have the battery tested. Also check the red positive post near the drivers side strut for corrosion of the wires. Make sure your grounds are good and clean and see what happens.

Related story. My roomate way back when had a turbo Daytona that was acting similar. Battery dead sometimes, gauges going nuts. I kept telling her to let me look at it, but she dropped it off at a dealer while she was at work. $65 diagnostic charge, told her they couldn't duplicate the problem. She went out to get it, and it wouldn't start. The shop was closed, and she called me to get her. While jump starting it, I noticed that the negative cable end was overtightened and had cracked. Replaced it, and the car never had any more problems. Boy, did that dealer get an earfull!!

man finaly got the prob fixed,it was that someone had put a diff plug on the altenator same color wires,but was different,had been given me probs before but then just started burning up altenators,went through 2 new ones

I seem to remember that there were two options for alternators on that one, one style could be used if you used a jumper harness to make the plug correct for the other type. Is that what was happening, there was an adapter pigtail on it?
