what is the difference between the NEO VVL sr20det and just a regular sr20det

the vvl is the same as honda's vtec. 2 sets of cams, for low and high end rpm.. the vvl doesn't give as much torque though.. there's 3 stages of valve speeds..

its kinda complicated and i'm not good at explaining things..
basically:
sr20ve="vtec"
sr20de=non "vtec"

maybe somebody else could explain it a little better.. or just go look for it on the internet..

There is a NEO-VVL SR turbo called the SR20VET. It is used in the X-Trail suv.

The X-Trail has a 2.5 liter engine. It's the QR25DE.

yeah, the neo vvl was used in the 80s man, not in 2005, but you are right, there's
-sr20de
-sr20det
-sr20ve
-sr20vet

the ve's and vet's are not very common at all, and i'd be surprised if you could find a car to take one out of

Comes in the 2001- X-Trail SUV.

I bet you could find one its whether you could make it fit or not. 278 stock Hp would be nice.

X-Trail came out thsi year, it has the QR25DE everywhere it's being sold. If some of you have not heard of the X-Trail it's because it's not being sold in the States, just in Europe, Canada and Asia, I think.

Why would they put in a 2 liter 4 cylinder elsewhere when here they put in a 3.3 liter V6 that is supercharged on some models.

www.edmunds.com says the 2000 x-terra has a 2.4L 4cyl and a 3.3 v6.. the 2003 has the same but i know there's a supercharger on some of the v6's, just not sure which year.. none of them come with the neo vvl in canada.. they don't have the x-trail on edmunds yet.. atleast in canada, its a 2005 model that competes with the subaru whatever.. the one that kinda looks like an suv but its still small. the 2005 x-trail is pretty much direct competition with that, so i'm not sure what other countries call it.. but it has a 2.5L 4cyl, the same one as the 2.5S altima and possibly sentra se-r specv.. and it has the option of awd.. not a bad car/suv.. i've driven a couple of them.. this is the canadian x-trail with the qr25de..
this is the '04 x-terra

this is the newest to canada, the x-trail..

does anybody else live somewhere where the engines are different? even the entire car?? as R.W.240 says, the x-trail comes with an sr20vet, which would be unheard of here in the great white north.. we didn't even have the x-trail in 2001

Competition with the Subaru Forester and Honda CR-V.

Because in Japan theres a Displacement tax... and because the Supercharged X-Terra motor is a flaming peice of shit... ten extra hp whoo hoo!!

Is'nt the vvt {variable valve timing} Nissan's version of the v-tech. The s14 and s15 sr engines have it and is one of the reasons why they have more power, than the s13 sr. Im not for sure but this is just what I thought.

Try 30 extra horsepower and 44 extra ft-lbs opf torque and what's the point of having a truck if your going to put in a small engine? You won't be able to haul or tow anything, and it'll be slow as fuck if you put 4-5 people in.

what the fuck are you gonna pull with an X-Terra anyway?

adds 30HP!!! OmGz0rz Thats like 200HP!!! from a Forced 3.3L and on Premium Gas!!! no Way!!!

278HP 2.0L > 200HP 3.3L

Im gonna Vote for the LOCK on this one...

Do you even know how those numbers work? In a truck you don't even need horsepower, it's torque you need, and 245ft-lbs at 2800 rpm is very good. I dunno what you would tow with it, but what's the point of having a truck like that if you're not ganna haul or tow anything? If it's just for driving around, buy a car! It's not like it's some pimpim' SUV like an Escalade or Hummer, it's an Xterra, it's for utility only!

vvt is nothin special these days.. and to tell you the truth, i haven't looked at an engine bay of the newer nissans lately so i don't know if its advertised as vvt or nvcs.. i know toyota is all about the vvt-i and vvtl-i but really, i think every car has its own version, just names it differently.. and vvt isn't the same thing as v-tech.. read up on what v-tech (honda), vvtl-i (toyota), mivec (mitsu) and vvl (nissan) really are and you'll understand it better..
http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/engine/vvt_2.htm
thats actually a really good page cause it explains the basic idea of variable valve timing and how different manufactuers use it..

I must not :rolleyes: Ive had a C/K 2500 and it started working hard pulling 1500lbs. either way Its not just power you need if your pulling shit its stability and X-Terras feel like they're about to flip in a 5 mph crosswind. Not everyone thinks as practically as you. 95% of the X-terras i see are being driven by some housewife that only needs enough power to bring home the groceries.

I know, how many Hummers have you seen on the road? hundreds, how many have you seen off-road? Like 5 in pictures that were finanaced by GM.
