My friend drove onto my hood a while back, and ever since I got the new one I've noticed that I cant softly close my hood. It will go all the way down if I put pressure on it, but it wont lock shut unless I lift it at least about 6 inches and slam it, or else lift it about 2 feet and drop it... I really dont remember if I had that problem before the accident. Does anyone else have to do that?

My t-bird has never been in anything major, and I still have to slam the hood down a bit. 6 inches is about the same height I lift it before I slam the hood.

I think since after your accident, your mind is making you think something happened to the hood.

You should be able to adjust that reciever that's mounted just before the radiator. Loosen the bolts just a little bit, and bring it up just a hair. Don't go too far up, or the lines won't match up. There should be 3 or 4 bolts that you have to loosen. Good luck.

yeah youre probably right, I might mess around with it though because I really dont like having to slam it. The hole the latch goes thru was all rusted out on my old hood, and this one is getting all scratched up and Im sure its going to rust as well. If I find a way to make it shut w/o slamming, I'll share it, but if not then I'll just never mention it again.

I don't have to slam it just have to lift about 10in-12in and let it go. The adjustment might work, but it shouldn't be a big deal if doesn't.

It really isnt that big of a deal, I just dont want the hood to rust, plus its really loud, and a lot of times I work on my car at night, so I'd like to be able to just lay it down softly and press it shut. My main thing was to see if that was normal, or if mine was more difficult. I was hoping mine was more difficult, that way I could fix it. I think I'll still take mikes advice and try to adjust those bolts and hope that works for me.
