unless it's a Del Sol VTEC that you drive, there is no way you can smoke Probe GTs

I dont know anything about del sol's but Ive met people who owned one and have told me not to get one only because of how much they break down. How much trouble could they really be? They are basically civics and have like almost the same engine layout and all.

its VTEC but not the kind youre thinking about: its the jdm SOHC VTEC. only 135 stock but i have exhaust, intake, intake manifold and headers AND he sucks at shifting

lol why. It's perfectly possible for him to have a D15B motor in there. The guy that drives the probe must really suck at driving though.

Compared to what? Identically equipped, they're heavier than CRXs and 5G Civic Hatch... and roughly the same or lighter than just about everything else Honda made in the 90s.
Now, calling most Hondas fast is another story, heh. Of course the same could be said for Probe GTs ;)

Me and my friends call del sols, del slows too. Just because they're heavier than our cars (his 4dr LX is about 150lbs lighter than the del sols), but they're a lot faster than my car (70hp). Before I got my hatch I was going to get one, there was one at a little dealership down the street for me but it was $6G's so I said no way and got the hatch for 2 (and I needed a car with room for my drum set and the del wasn't going to cut it). But I love the headlights on them, the ones with the circles in the front.

Del Sol's are only about 70lbs heavier than a 5th gen Civic hatch and weigh almost exactly the same as the '99-'00 Civic Si. Del Sol's are only heavier because of the body reinforcement and the steel rollbar due to the targa top. They're not as heavy as people think though - that's a common misconception about Del Sol's.
They're pretty quick though when you do some engine work and are very good for autocross. On the Probe note, I have to put the local Ford Probe's who don't leave me alone in their place where I live as well. I leave the GT's alone though - those are turbo'd from the factory.
Yes, Honda made a SOHC VTEC D15B motor - it's from the JDM though, not the USDM. They came in the '92-'93 Del Sol Si's in Japan I believe and some Civics.

yeah, its JDM. Its not too much faster than the USDM 1.6l in the Si though, it has 130hp stock. Im thinking about taking it out and selling it since it only has like 40k miles on it. Im sure sumbody with a CX or VX hatch would love it. Ill then either put in a B16a or B18c, depending on which is easier to get my hands on. The D15b is in great condition. How much to you think i could get for it? I was thinking $1500 but let me hear some ballpark figures.

No way could you get $1500 for it, you can buy them online for $585-750. I'd probably think on the low end of that since it's used, and when something like a motor is used the buyer really never knows how the previous owner treated it (that's why people buy from companies because of warentees). I mean you could get a 1st gen b16 for $1800 or less and that's 30hp more, so no way $1500.
