Made to order body kits, Anyone interested?

I was wanting to know if anyone would be interested in a company that would make a body kit the way you wanted it. You would take a rendering of your car and draw out the way you want to body kit to look, front bumber, side skirts, rear bumper, fenders, hoods, anything you wanted. Then you could order the kit either as a hole or just one piece of it, what ever you want. Everything is made to your specs of fiberglass, kevlar, alumium fiberglass (commonly called "silver carbon fiber"), or carbon fiber. Time from order to shipment would be anywere from two days to two weeks depending on the amount you ordered and the complexity of the parts. The pieces would be competeativly priced at around $400 for complete (front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper) kits. Would anyone be intested?
For those of you who dont know I'v been working with composits for several years and I'm intested in finally starting my own business making body kits because frankly I dont like most of the body kits on the market today, most dont fit my taiste, dont flow good with the body, and dont have much style to them. I'm sure there are other people out there that feel the same. The cars that I would be able to do would start out with 4thgen civic/ 2nd gen crx becasue I have templates to build off of for those but would grow as I had requests for differnt cars. Anyway let me know what you think. All feedback and/or questions are welcome.

that is an awesome idea!
i've seen custom kits and they're very expensive! and as you know, there's not many kits for our 4-doors, just the extreme kit and the occasional invader front bumper. I want something different, something that i like...
just type in "custom body kit" in google or yahoo, and most of what you get is pre-made kits. I did find one company that made custom kits, but i think they went out of business. Plus they never gave a price or anything.
I think you could have the custom thing, and post some of the different designs you've made on a site that you think would be popular, and people could order those as well.
i'll make your website for ya! host it n everything :P you can definitely go somewhere with that idea, since you have the skills, the know-how, and a good place to start :)

Yeah I was planning on offering premade designs also, and a "mix and match" sort of thing like if you want the lip off one bumper on a differnt bumper and you want fog light holes insted of air vents, you get the idea.

Yeah, Although I dont have any templates for 4doors, I think there is one is the junk yard though I could get the front and rear bumpers from and measure for side skirts.

I think that would be awesome!!! but the only thing that i would have to say is what would the cost factor be vs. a premade one?

Like it says in the first paragraph, around $400 for front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper. Or you could buy the pieces individually. Priced will vary depending on design though, but not to an extreme amount.

bumpers would be on in factory locations, mounting of side skirts would depend on the way the look - some need to be attached from the top or middle, such as ones that are going to be molded in. Otheres that are going to be left alone and not molded in can be mounted from the bottom.

Oh and the quality of the materials is top notch. As a testimate of that I made a 3" lip on the bottom of my factory bumper and it is molded on with fiberglass and two studs on each side going though the bottom of the bumper and I bottomed it out on a speed bump doing about 15 miles an hour and it did not crack or brake away from the bumper on either side.

very awesome man, youre my inspiration lol. Yeah thats a great price too. The front and rear bumper supports would be used still right? Im very interested. You know you would get lots of business especially from this site.

The supports would be an option, and would depend on how the design of the bumpers would be layed out.

Can you show some products,
My friend si doing custom body kits and some
parts for bikes...and I know that that what are you talking about is hardlly to belive, you talk like it something so eazy to do, but it's not so easy to do custom parts, and if you are in it you know it for your self too...
I did my front bumper custom for my car...that friend of mine build it from 0...and it took me four days to do just the copy of it and made another bumper out of the "calup"
So please show us some products you've done already...
We did something from CF too, but with CF is a lot harder than with oridanry fibres...if you want to do it right (vacum, heat...)

I'm not a hater,I just want to see how you do it !

hey I'm very interested, I'm not quite sure what kind of style I want yet but I would like to eventually replace all removable metal body panels with CF or sheet aluminium when I have the money. If you can make a 1970's style porsche boxster or 911 kit to fit a 91 civic hatch frame that would be great :) or possibly a small Jaguar or Ferrari, Lotus Elise, I need to think about it a bit more...

i would be interested in just a lip kit. no insane body kits, jst add-ons. side skirts, then front lip, and rear lip. something that is subtle :D. im'a have my artist friend do a sketch for me.

bleed, I'm thinking of starting off with just lips and side skirts. I'v got alot of responces about this allready and I think I need some premade designs so people have options to choose from because people try to explain what they want and its just not working.
Emil- trust me, I'm a professional heh. Seriously though I'll have pictures up sometime around this weekend

Hey... If u can really do this kinda stuff for that cheap. I'll be your favorite customer. I just bought a pair of fiberglass fenders from NOPI... Pieces of shit... mounting holes missaligned... the gelcoat started cracking before I even got the first bolt finger tight. There is only one fiberglass body kit I have found that I would be willing to put on my hatch. Its made by Andy's Autosport. Most bumpers are just plain ugly to me... So If you could make me something custom... I'd be willing to pay twice as much as what you think you are going to be charging.

I dont use gel coat, most body kits are gel coated to hide flaws. Because they are so mass produced its easyer to spray 1/4" of gel coat on it than it is to hand check each one to make sure there are flaws.

I cant wait for those pics!
Tell me when your good to go with this, I will most likely get 2 front/rear lips and 2 sets of sides. CF of course.
Also will you only be doing this for 4g or can i get something for a 95 civic coupe? Im trying to stick with the "stock" look. Thanks!

I do not have bumpers for a 95 but we could work something out where you send me the outline of the bottom of the bumper so I would have the shape to make the lip from.

i know you said 400 dollars for the whole kit...but how much is the price gonna be for a lip kit for my 4th gen hatch in fiberglass? any cheaper.

Well I'm one step closer to being setup to start selling lips and side skirts, I just put in an order for 900 sqft of fiberglass (60 yard by 5 foot). I'll should have the molds ready soon for two differnt lips and side skirts. I will only be offering fiberglass as of now, carbon will come after I find out how the fiberglass ones sell and see if i need to make any improvments on the molds and such. Anyway just wanted to give yall an update.

the bottom edge of the bumpers did infact change in 90, and it may also be differnt between civic/crx witch I was thinking was the same. So now I have to make additional molds, or just start out offering for 88/89.

I would love this! I have a 95 Jetta, their is like a whole whopping 3 different body kits for my car, all same side skirts and back bumpers, just uglier and uglier front bumpers. I'll hit you back with a pic, i'll have my friend draw up, where are you guys located... i'd rather pick up then have it be shipped for like $300 like my last one!
