This is where you can see how the plastic is torn on the plug wire thing.

You can see the plug that is filled with oil compared to the one next to it, which is void of any liquids.

And the front of my car with the bumper missing.
Which parts exactly need replacing to replace all the gaskets, spark grommets and the valve stem thing... Man i can't remember any of my vocabulary words today.

no man, you got it right. If you have money, you should look into getting a head gasket set for an 88-89 integra. That includes every gasket from the head gasket up. That includes all of the valve cover gaskets (gromets and the valve cover gasket) valve seals, all that shit. Its about $100 off ebay when its on there. Its not necessary, but it can only prevent other shit happening in the future. If your kinda limeted on funds like most of us, you can just get a valve cover gasket set. Its only about $20 and includes the valve cover gasket and each of the gromets (the parts you really need).

valve cover gasket and spark plug hole gaskets, and new plug wires should do you. I allways change plugs when I change wires so you might want to go ahead and do that too.

Get the gaskets and replace the spark plugs and wires. I hope this solves your problem. GL

btw those "spark plug wire things" that go on top of the plugs are called "coil on plug" type secondary ignition coils...

are you on crack? coil on plug means you have an individual coil per cylinder...as far as i know...no 4th gen civic or 2nd gen crx ever came with coil on plug...if yours has it please post pics because id be interested to see it HAHA. coil on plug is reletively new to the auto industry (besides those few freak cars that tried it back in the 70's but never did work properly or just proved to expensive for the times) they have just recently made it affordable.

just change the plug wires/plugs, and the gaskets, should be fine, and yes the motor does look manky, how many miles has it done? any history ?
Onimacus
10-08-2004, 01:17 PM
It was told to me that the motor had around 35k miles when it was put in the car last january/february.
I would estimate the motor at 50k miles now?
As far as a history I have no idea...

A ZC with 35k miles on it? Plus its been sitting in a junkyard for 10+ years. JDM motors are garbage, until you 1- rebuild them or 2- they are a newer motor.

comon now....you may not have problems with your ZC...but those who have them or have HAD them no they arent all they are cracked up to be. first off....parts...cant get them since it was never offered in the us...after market support isnt all there, and it seems like everyone that has one always seems to be asking where they can get parts cuz there zc just broke....ill stick with my LS...seeing how it has 10 more horse is cheaper to swap and it is a b series motor. just my :2cents:

cheaper to swap?? explain please.... :sly: Also, if you look hard enough, theres plenty of aftermarket support. Ive had no problems finding any part that i need. Im not looking to start any B-series/D-series beef. Just standing up for the underdog ZC, its got lots of potential. I agree that its more reliable to buy a y8 that came out of a '96+ car. Those zc's have been sitting around for most likely a few years which sucks. Im still very very happy with my zc though, the one im building will make me 14 psi happier though:smokin:.

ok well so far im into my b18a1 swap for about ummm nothing.....if you look around hard enough you can find an integra that someone just wants out of their yard so they will let you just take it or tow it out....me i got everything for free...hubs, engine, tranny, ecu, IM, EM, wiring harness. the only thing i wouldve had to buy to put it into my car is motor mounts and axels. about $380. but i opted to rebuild it. but id rather rebuild it than kick myself in the ass later for not rebuilding it. either way the moral of the story is that your not gonna find a ZC laying around somewhere in the US its just not gonna happen. and your 14 psi on your zc wont touch my b18 with 14 psi...cuz thats my exact plans

Ive never seen any of these free integras lol. For real though, ive never been lucky enough to find a car someone just wants to get rid of. Overall, the price of any b-series into our cars is more expensive than a D. On the other hand found a cheaper route which is all good. Im not saying your engine is shit and mine is cool. I just hate when people say zc's are worthless. Last time i ran at the track i got a 15.102 which isnt too bad for a $500 engine. What are you planning on doing to your B18? With 14 psi what internals will you have? I know I cant wait for mine.

well i plan on boosting stock internals for a lil whilea around 7-8 psi...then next summer im gonna drop the crank and put in new pistons....ross racing pistons and eagle h beam rods. im also gonna run hondata and dsm injectors.

If you look around hard enough there are always people giving things away for cheap, but realistically there is no way a B series motor is a less expensive swap than a ZC.
