fixed a problem with my distributor. car started and ran fine for about 10 mins. then died. it would not start and wasnt even firing. checked my ecm for problem codes and got code 21, it is a problem with my ignition signal. the book i have sais probable cause is "The ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running( see a dealer service department)" any info you guys could give me on what to do about this would be a huge help. i really dont have the money to take it to a dealer at the moment. thanks in advance for your help

have you double checked your distributor wiring ? make sure they are all on tight, especially that little one in the middle. also check your fuses,I am not a mechanic so don't get your hopes up,but maybe there is a fuse blown that could stop the spark from getting to the distributor. check your owners manual for fuse locations.good luck

The code is daying that your comp doesn't now where your cams are in relation to your crank meaning your crank angle sensor inside your distributor is covered with oil. The crank angle sensor is an optic pick up, it has 360 slots on a disc and the ioptic pick up reads these as the engine spins and tells the computer where the engine is at so it can fire on the correct cylinder. I suggest taking apart your distributor, take the cap off, then take the rotor button off and the next cap will be covering the crank angle sensor which is the optic pick up as mentioned earlier. If there is oil in there then that is your problem. The only way to fix it is to get a new one as the centre shaft on the distributor can not be pressed out without cracking the housing. I know all this as I have been through it and I am also an mechanical engineer.
Hope this helps
