Oops.....error made

Upon rebuilding my Grand Am 3.0 engine I just realized I installed the intake manifold in reverse. The engine was apart for sometime before I started the rebuild. My question is.... will I now have to buy another intake vally pan gasket set? Or can I just unbolt it turn the intake around and reinstall it. The engine is still on a engine stand and hasn't been fully reassembled yet. This is why digital camera's were invented now I know. Thanks in advance for your input. It was a dry installation, no rtv or such was used.

Did you torque the manifold or just install it on the engine with the bolts snugged tight? If so remove the intake and examine the gasket. If it isn't torn there is a good chance you can use it again. If it tears or sticks to the heads you should replace it. There may be a possibility that the gasket could fail prematurely but I doubt it. If you torqued the manifold to spec, I would buy a new gasket since the gasket tends to crush to form a seal when torque is applied.

I personally wouldn't take a change on it "Probably" being good. They are not expensive, the engine is already out.... Just throw a new one one. Beats haveing this one fail after everything is back in the car.
