Hey everyone, here is your moment to shine.
I have a 1992 SSEi, it started about a month ago, a faint squeaking/chirping sound from under the hood. After some investigation I found that it is comming from the snout of the super, I can squirt a really quick mist of WD40 behind the pully and it goes away for about 5 seconds, but low-and-behold it comes back. So I went to the local Pontiac dealer and bought some supercharger oil, siphoned the old stuff out, HOLY @&#* did that stuff stink, but it still does it. Mind you, it isn't very loud, just loud enough to here it form inside the car. Oh ya while I was getting the oil, they guy said I can't buy any replacement parts for the charger, gotta buy the whole damn thing, $2,300  SOOO my question to you guys/gals is, does anybody sell replacement parts for my supercharger, I suspect it is the front bearing on the thing, and also how hard is is to rebuild the thing if I can find parts, I feel quit certain I have the werewithall to do it my self, just didn't know if there were any tricks, secrets, or special tool I would need to do the job. Any info would greatly be appreciated, I would like to get this fixed before the charger starts spewing metal fragment into that indestructable 3800.

Do a search for rebuilt superchargers. You can buy a nose drive, which is where your noise is coming from.

I take it from your username you must be from Nebraska as I am which makes this very strange. I had the exact same problem in my 92 ssei and two weeks ago the supercharger locked up in me. After I got the car home and SC off, I found that the bearings were shot in the nose and there was very little oil left. I believe what happens is the nose runs low on oil and the bearings take a while before they seize up. I just found a place zzperformance.com that I have contacted for parts. Supposedly they have a nose rebuild kit for $89.
Good Luck!

Come to find out, AFTER I changed the bearings in the snout, that the noise I was actually hearing was the belt on the super, he tensioner assy. is shot and I ordered a new one, haven't got it yet. Anyway I guess I have the piece of mind that my snout is rebuilt.
