i recently ran across a cam powerpackage that includes the following
Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams
Skunk2 Silver Cam Gears
Skunk2 Valve Springs and Retainers
Toda Timing Belt
Golden Eagle Cam Seal
now my question to you is........... what are all the other hidden cost of things i would need to get to make this a safe reliable investment, be streetable and run on 93 octane
My car is a 94 GSR 4-door
i have a skunk2 ecu as an add in
would i need higher compression pistons to make the most of this setup?
if so should i go JE or CTR (or any other good aftermarket pistons) or would ITR pistions suffice?
2nd my "high performance honda builder handbook" told me that after market intake manifolds and throttle bodies so u no good and offer only part throttle performace, but at WOT the air flow is limited to how much air the motor turly uses (head, cam, itake, exhuast flow permits", but since i would be changeing the lift and duration of the motor would these be good investments or are they only needed in full race cam applications?
3rd would i need a vtec controller and fuel pressor regulator to tune the amount of fuel needed to properly fuel this new amount of air intake? or would having the ECU i mentioned above already do this for me?
4th i am still using my stock header because i have not altered anything on my motor enough to permit a less restrictive exhuast flow, so i should also add a header to my list of parts needed right?......also since the stage 2 cam is setup for mid to top end power, would it be a good bet to 4-2-1 to aid the mids and lows?
anything else that needs to be touched on please add because i have every intention of saving enough money till i can do everything right the first time thanks
Scott
p.s. if everything i have stated is completely false and redundant please do not hesitate to tell me, i will not be offened i will be thankful

I'm basically throwing my opnion in and giving this a bump because somebody else here has to have a more specific answer...
You already realize your idle is going to be rough, but the car should be streetable, although I don't know how legal it will be...
As you've listed the stuff, I think your throttle-body will be fine - I don't know anything about the flow characteristics of the b18c, I assume they are quite good as far as honda/acura engines go, so I don't see any real restrictions...an aftermarket TB wouldn't hurt the setup, and would definetly help make the whole thing feel more responsive, but if you decide not to go with it, then you'll still have that optimal air-flow at WOT anyway...so there you go.
I think that your skunk2 ECU will take care of the fuel/air and vtec
You'll want some new headers of course - if your cam profile is setup specificaly for top-end, there's no sense in trying to moderate, it; just get a header setup for top end power, and run with the idea that you're starting with. While we're in that area, you might want to google some info about the flow characteristics of your head...again, being a b-series, i assume its fine as is, but since we're on the whole subject of maximizing air flow through the head, we might as well consider porting in conjunction with the header/exhaust.
I think the other internals will be strong enough to handle the upgrade, but I could be missing something important...retainers, or something along those lines. I'm going to skip your Q about high-compression pistons, as I have no valid input, and it's time for me to go home.
In any case, you asked good questions, hopefully you'll get good answers; somebody hook this man up!
good luck, it sounds like i'tll be a fun upgrade.

i live in NC in a small shit town where my cars true legittally really doesn't matter so.....
but i was also thinking
about whitch header....... i was thinking 4-2-1 to aid with the mid's and lows to help keep the powercurve as flat as possible, but if my setup is for top-end would i maybe want to go with the most best flowing header (4-1) since that would be in conjunction with the rest of the set-up??
or does honestly it make that much of a difference?
also.... i have heard ZEX cams make good gains on SOHC vtec models but has anyone had any experinces with them on the DOHC vtec modes?
if i dont get that package witch comes with skunk2's i was highly considering zex's street/strip cams......any words on this?
