having problems starting my tacoma

i have a 99 x-cab tacoma 4x4, with the 2.7/5 speed tranny. about a month and a half ago my battery dropped a cell. i replaced the battery and everthing was fine several weeks afterwards. but here lately she seems hard to start. i took the battery back to advance auto parts and had it tested. they tried to say that it was my alternator. i had it and my starter checked and there is no problems. however, when it is cold and i try to start it, it barely cranks (like the battery is dead) then i let out on the clutch, then push it back in again and try cranking the engine again and it cranks and starts like it should. im kinda thinking that the clutch start switch on my clutch pedal might be the problem, what do you guys think?

Hmmm, it's definitely worth checking, but I'd be inclined to still lean toward something else. If it were the swtch, it shouldn't crank at all, right? Just a guess, but are you seeing any other tell-tale signs - corrosion on the terminals, for example - of an electrical issue? Good luck on this one - I'm anxious to see what you find.

Take care,
Jerry

thanks for the reply Jerry, see when i had the battery replaced the tech
at advance auto put in the new battery, he did over tighten the positive terminal and it broke the bolt inhalf, he put a new bolt on and tightened it back up. but i checked the terminals earlier and the pos. was a little loose. so i tightened it up a little. since it has started perfect every time, so im going to keep and eye on it still. hopefully that has fixed it
