sup i was watchin a infomercial late one night on tv about a new product called the "tornando" its a device u put in ur intake pipe and its the shape of helicopter blades... well anyways the product makes ur airfuel mixture more efficient and they made it look so good on tv. like the way when u put two 2 liter bottles together with water and shake them it makes that lil tornando right well they say it worked exactly the same way and they dyno tested it .. the results 10-20 hp on tv .. yes this is all what i saw its crazy but i saw it .. any one see the comercial.? its on really late when theres notin on tv and the product would so called be perfect for vtec engines

It's a big joke. Nothing like swirling the air and creating resistance when trying to produce power

You could buy the tornado...OR you could take the money you would waste on the thing and save it to buy something that might actually help the car....I've seen the infomercial and all I have to say is that there is a reason you only see those things at like 4 in the morning.....

i would rather take the money i would spend on that, get all one dollar bills and burn each one individually and very slowly to prolong the pain of wasting money, but it still wouldnt be as much pain as if i bought a tornado so it works out.

think about it...
when air swirls, it is pretty much taking the longest path to get to the intake... thus intake velocity is slowed.
second, it's installed after the air filter, before the throttlebody on efi cars. if you're at less than WOT, the thottlebody butterfly will disrupt the flow anyways.
third, there's an intake plenum and runners attached to your head. the air must turn 90 degrees to go into the runners after the throttlebody, so a "spiral flow" will also become disrupted there, too.
the injectors are in the runners... where the spiral flow would have a definite effect on air/fuel mixture. but by the time it passes through the above stages, the air is pretty much just as turbulent as before you put the tornado on.
essentially, it's a great device to cause an obstruction in your intake tract.

It's not worth the money. If you really wanted to...just go buy a K&N kit for your stock intake that gives 20+HP!!!:evillaugh

For V blocks where the intake goes straight down from the vortex creator without much of a plenum chamber, it might work. God knows that there are some cars out there with bad F/A mixing. The vortex mixing concept is indeed key in some engines (GM Vortec, Honda CVCC for example).
However, for us, the air goes through the throttle body and then basically comes to rest in the plenum chamber. From there it takes a right turn down the intake runners. No vortex will survive a turn like that. Perhaps some little fins in the runners themselves would do something, but Honda is the king of managing its vortex and fuel/air mixture (e.g. VTEC-E engines), so its going to do us no good.
I was amused at the guy using it on diesel engines, though - that was pretty laughable as the fuel isn't introduced until the air has been compressed in the cylinder.

What does it cost? $70? Look up for the mass air flow sensor resistor trick. What 10cents?, ive heard that it will give u a raise of 5hp.
