My question is if you are serious about making 1600 ft. lbs of torque, what are you doing asking on a forum like this? Anyone doing this kind of stuff is usually working with the shop that sponsors them....

depends on how lucky you are. Some hold up under abused superchargers/nitrous for a season or two, and some blow on the first pass with a stock motor and sticky tires.
They aren't too strong really, but they'll live as long as your tires aren't too sticky...

11,000?.....yeah..Anyway, about the transmission, if you really make 1,600 lb/ft of torque then I think even the mighty T-56 will bite the dust. I believe Lentech makes an automatic that has a lifetime warranty on cars with up to 1,000 hp. As far as rear end, Moser, Mark Williams, and maybe Currie enterprises could help you out. I think the only rear end that could take that kind of pounding would be the Ford 9 inch.

Don't take this as flaming too much, but I still say anyone who is gonna build their own 1,000 HP TT engine isn't gonna realistically be ASKING us here what tranny/rearend to run.
Most built windsors w/TT on the street will hover in the 550-700 HP range. And that's a serious amount of money.
An 8.8 rear w/stock 28 spline axles will live to 400 RWHP in a fairly heavy car, as long as you don't really beat it. 31 spline w/a detroit even more, and is more reliable on slicks. I'd start there and if you break that, it's time for a back-halved car w/a 9-inch.

A well built powerblide ain't gonna hold no fuckin 1600 ft-lbs of torque in a heavy-ass 3000+ pound imaginary street car that this guy is daydreaming about. When you start making massive horsepower, torque goes down because you're spinning the motor higher to take advantage of better breathing cylinder heads. EG, a low 8 second turbo car running a single 100mm-ish turbo might make 1400 horsepower, but hover around 1000 ft-lbs of torque. 1600 ft-lbs of torque would be more than most pro 5.0 guys are making, think 800 inch pro stock motors on the juice to make 1600 ft-lbs.

werd... i agree, but hey while were on the tranny subject, how much power cna the stock t5 take before she eats it.
I'm Crew Chief on a 99 Mustang Cobra that recently ran a 10.77 with a stock T45, a forged 4.6, 150 shot of nitrous, built live axle rear end, 10.5" slicks, and a 6800 RPM Spec stage 3 clutch dump. The input shaft survived 2 years of abuse, mostly due to the installation of an aluminum flywheel with the addition of nitrous. This car currently 60's in the 1.3s. The driver (and 55-year old owner) granny shifts this car, but is consistent, never powershifts, and because of this his tranny has survived. The 10.77 was with exhaust, ET streets, an 8000 RPM rev limiter, and a dyno RWHP rating of about 500hp/550 TQ, SAE corrected..
Now that we decided to up the shot to 200hp, we're switching to a Tremec proshifted T500 with a Mcleod clutch. I don't know the specks on the clutch, but hopefully it will take the abuse of the extra horsepower and harder shifts.
The rearend is a junkyard GT 8.8 inch housing, a Detroit Locker and Superior axles. He's also put full GT brakes to clear the 15" Weld Prostars.
You can find information on the car at http://joelynch,org/cobrasite
We also have a friend who is building in his garage a True Street turbo 347 90 GT estimated to make over 1000 hp. This car has already run low 9s with a much smaller turbo setup. He runs a powerglide, a 9-inch, and Strange axles. The only reason I mention this is because you don't have to be sponsered to build a high hp Mustang, and there's nothing wrong with asking questions.

All i can do reading your signature about a mustang cant beat an LS1 is laugh and i'm a huge camaro fan (real ones, first gens :iceslolan )...Some people actually are out building their own stuff, not saying he is or isn't but just answer a question and stop being an ass. So he's being very optimistic saying 1600ftlbs seems to me people have made good suggestions and answered his questions. No thanks to you ofcourse. Let him go off and dream about 1600ftlbs in a street car and you go dream about your LS1 being the god of all motors, like most 4th gen camaro fans do.

As for mustangs not beating LS1's....The cobra 99civichic is talking about has yet to loose to a LS1 and it's not for lack or racing them. The guy with the 90 GT hasn't ever lost to an LS1 either, even when driving his jap crap supra.
If your sig is a joke on ls1's thats cool too, what's with the sigkill count though? How many kills you have in your car? If its' only 40 or so you dont need to be telling anyone how to do much of anything.

Your being a hypocrite by passing judgment, and then saying no one should apose people's ideas. Let's be realistic here 1600 lb.ft. of torque, this question is very exaggerated. If your asking a question like this, you should know whats a good rear end, and tranny. All the advice giving in this thread is worthless unless I see pictures of his 1600lb.ft. of torque engine.

*shrug* A Dodge Cummins turbodeisel back home (daily driven) maxed out the dyno on torque; the dyno maxes out at 1200 and it was definately on its way up. 1600 might be a high estimate, but it was at least 1400. Imagine a turbodiesel in a Stang....
