need money quick, any ideas?

okay so my 240's trans has gone out and its going to be like $2200 to replace it, anybody know how i can make some quick cash? selling drugs is not a possabilaty, but any other thing (legal or not) are game.

If we knew, we'd all be rich......

Uh right...where did you get a quote of $2200 from? You can buy another damn car for that much. Call around to wrecking yards and wholesale wharehouses, I'm sure you can get one alot cheaper.

well at the moment i have a salvage tranni for it that i got for 450 bucks but when they put it in they found out it didnt shift, i already owe the shop like 600 for the work they have done so far, so my total at this point is like 1000 +tax, the car was 1800 when i bought it, if it costs anymore to fix im just getting it back and buying an 88' audi 90 quattro for $800, but i really want my 240 back, i truly miss it, and the look of envey from every riced out honda that spotted me.

So the cost so far is $1000. Do you have a $1000 to pay for the work? So how much are they quoting you to fix the transmission?

Why is a shop putting your transmission in? Swapping trannies really isn't all that hard. Work on the tranny I can understand, but just putting the transmission in? My advice, don't pay that much for a transmission swap. As far as fixing it, don't. You could probably find an auto for $200 maybe less from someone converting or just has a few around. Think about it, the auto to manual conversion is less than what your talking.

tranny should only cost $800/installed at most. if you cant get a quote anywhere cheaper, drop it off at my place and ill pop the sucker in :)

well at first i took it in becase it wouldnt even go into gear(i put a post up about it awile ago) and so they looked at it and it was going to cost 2200 to rebuild it, i said id rather not have it rebuild because thats alot of money, so i called every salvage company in utah, and i finally had to have one shipped from colorado (this is the one that dosent shift), so yeah this is the point i am at, they are supposed to call me tomorow to tell me if the new trans will be easy to fix. all and all its just a big cluster fuck (as a co-worker called it), never go to tanner transmission if you live in utah.

Wow, for that price, you could just as well get an sr20 with a manuel transmission.

there's always the 'dj-press-play' ... which i see all the time and it pisses me off, but you still make the money.. i work at some of the top clubs and bars in ottawa, canada and i make more than $35/hour canadian and its not too hard to get to that.. atleastit wasn't for me.. do that 3 nights a week and you've got yourself more mods for your car!! my problem with that is my insurance is almost $4000CDN per year so everything is going to that and gas..

for 250 bucks we do what we call RDI

thats Repair, Dissasemble, and Inspect...


that means take out transmission, take it apart internally, and see what it wrong and give an estimate, if you want the transmission fixed that 250 goes towards the end price so you don't really have to pay it, if you don't want it fixed we just reassemble it and put it back in...

Really on a 240sx, putting transmission out and another in, should take about 2.5-3 hours labor....thats how long it would actually take to do it though, what the labor rates in the books are is what they go by on price.

man for that just find a engine block with the tranny with less mileage and save ur self some money i seen them on ebay going for atleast 700 bucks or so and in good condition.

for 2K I would have my T-56 swapped in and have atleast 800 for a fludyne radiator, and some minor upgrades. Dude you are getting ripped off, I wouldn't charges anyone more than $400 to swap in a tranny, usually 200-300, unless you got a truck.

its funny that the guy said be a dj because i accually want to be, i even have some numark direct drives and blue dog eq. no, man, i'm by no means a dj-press-play.. i'll beatmix songs for 6 hours, no stops. keep the croud going! what i meant was that there are some guys that work at the same bars and clubs as i do but all they do is put cd's in and press play with no flow or energy.. basically, they suck but don't realize it.. just like ricers! BOOYA they're the ricers of the disc jockey industry!!! you see how frustrating it can be? i'm in ottawa and if you've been to a bar here, i've probably spun there.. the cabin, on tap, minglewoods, capital music hall, le skratch, casey's, griffin's, inferno, acqua.. i'm also starting to work with the new hot 89.9, they're basically hot97 (from nyc) in ottawa. its amazing work and even better money.

how much an hour are you going to make at the radio station?

i don't know yet.. i have to wait and find out if the spot opens up.. they had a whole shuffle of on-air djs in august and 2 of them were fired so once they figure out what they want to do, i'll find out if i have a spot or not. basically if the 2 positions are filled then i'll have a spot open up but its really sketchy right now.. nobody knows whats goin on so time will tell.. for now i'm workin the 80's retro and classic rock saturday night and any other spots that need to be filled. its a great industry, very underestimated..
for the actual pay of a radio dj, its not very much, probably enough to have my own place and a car (probably not enough for a 240 unfortunately). definitely less than what i make a clubs.. i get $175 per night and its about 5 hours of work..
