i'm eventually going to dump the bench in my '93 s-10 in favor of some bucket seats. how hard is it to adapt seats from the same and newer body-style trucks? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shouldn't be hard with a little handiness and ingenuity.

i know a guy that put buckets outta a cavy into an 89 s-10, they bolted right up, and since everything else on any s-10 is interchangeable, im sure it would fit...haha

Sorry guys ... but nothing EVER just "bolts right up".

If you have a bench seat and you want to put in buckets. You will have to do some fabrication work. Your bench has 4 mounting bolts (2 each end) where buckets have 4 each (8 total). Now, if you add buckets from a similar year, style of S10 the two bolts at on the outside will probably match-up, However, will will still need to mount the inside 2 bolts for each bucket. That means drilling through the floor and adding more bolts. When you mount the inside bolts DO NOT (I REPEAT !!) DO NOT MOUNT THEM JUST TO THE FLOOR BOARD !! You have to put plates between the floor and the bolt. I always use 6"x6"x3/16" thick (min.) plates. This way if you get in an accident your seat will stay where it is (and so will you !!!).

I have installed quite a few buckets into S10's and I have always had to fab up new mounting legs.

GOOD LUCK !!!

dugie is right, you will need to drill 2 holes per seat, outside will (by will i mean if it doesnt im sorry) line up correctly if you go with another gm modle, if your going aftermarket, remember one thing when you patch up one hole, BONDO ABSORBS WATER, meaning it will eventually even with paint will rust, anyway, a few holes and some nice washers/steel plates, and your good to go

Just remeber, a lot og the newer models had electric seats, and you might have to either struggle with that or give up on it.

i just went to try this today monday the 19th or 20th or something similar. i have a 93 s-10 with bench seats. i went to the junkyard and bought 93 blazer bucket seats. i didnt have the proper wrench to take off the old seats because they are long bolts so i need a longer 15mm bit. i did notice that there was a problem that i didnt see before. you will probably need to cut and weld the floorboard. see on my truck the seat bolting for the outside matches up on the seats but my floor board is raised. this raise is between the mounting bolts all the way across the bottom of the bench. there for, to make the front inside holes and to make the seat mount, i will need to cut this raise in the floor board and then weld a level floorboard in its place. now i need to find someone in my town with a welder to do this. definitly consider junkyard seats. i got 2 bucket seats out of a 93 blazer with no glass on them almost no dirt and no rips for 50 dollars. good luck.
