On rebuilding a STOCK 283, plastgage was used and the crank was torqued down with the right bearings. The crank was difficult to turn. Removing the caps showed one of the plastigage flatness to be 5 one thousanths. This is a tight motor. Some say its O.K. and just take it easy on the motor for the few first few thousand miles. any other opinions out there?? some say take it back and have it taken down a little more?
Anyone with any advice?

You may want to try gauging the crank after rotating it 45 degrees (do it at 12, 3, 6 & 9 oclock positions)and see if the crank is straight. Otherwise I would take it back and have the journal polished to get the clearance correct.
