APC reputation??

So crew, do APC coilovers have a good rep? how does all 4 corners for $140 Canadian dollars sound?

go for arospeed coilovers,
I've heard they was one of the best,
lightweight,stiff-ride(nice handling),
when you hit a bump the tires jump not the car!
I'm not knockin' APC,they have good performance products :biggrin:
but they have better products out there,
plus the arospeeds are going for 80 bucks on ebay right now.

1990civicdxhb not to be rude or mean but your ride is pretty ricey if that is your car in your signature.

As for buying cheap coilover's for suspension I would advise against it, get a set of lowering springs like nuespeed or another company, cheap coilovers like that have a bouncy ride and are just plain shitty IMO.

There was cosmo racing coilovers on my crx when I bought it I quickly took them off in place of neuspeed race springs and they made the ride sooo much better, even with stock struts.

APC = American Piece of Crap. A guy I knew bought the coilovers and they started to sag and ride like garbage after about 2 or 3 months of driving it every day. That's just one experience so who knows, maybe someone here has had them and they worked good.

I thought they only made shifknobs and seat belt pads.

They make everything from coilover's to CF hood's to intakes to the allmighty sticker.

I spend alot of money on my car to make it look good & run good,
I get alot of "your car looks good" never no one making a statement about my car being a rice burner!

this is my only car,daily driver,my 1st motor blew up,I gotta great deal on this motor so I installed it (one day),66k on the motor,maybe its a slow motor,but its slow motor or no job!,
I plan on putting a vtec in my car bored over,turbo all the great stuff,also i plan on putting air bags on it too plus wide kit by INCOME tax,I'm trying to go to the top with this car,I've had it for 3 years & plan on keepin' on,I'm trying to get it finished by the year 2006,thats paintjob & all,until then,I have a family,my money goes to different things,I dont have the cash to come out & hook the motor up,so I do what I can,if I'm a rice burner so I am,maybe thats what rice burners are,people who dont have enough money to drop what they got in the motor.

Arospeed coilovers are not shitty. I have had them on for almost 3 years now with shitty stock struts. I can't imagine how good the ride would be with better struts. Oh yeah, and I've jumped my car and drifted the hell out of it, and my springs still sit right so go pay all that money on stuff you don't need.

Anyway, a few of you have replied saying that APC (amongst others) coilovers make your car bounce, but could this be attributed to the fact that the dampers (shocks) can't match the progression of the new coils, or the dampers are blown and don't respond at all- highly likely on a 14 year old car!. They are correctly called dampers for a reason- the dampen the rebound of the spring, and reduce the 'bounce' that everyone is talking about. To support my theory, let me put this to you: lets say that mr. crx or mr. civic has just purchased there new ride and want to enhance the looks, but on a budget- one of the first things most of us would consider is slamming it on its arse, which coilovers achieve successfully, but given that their is a limit for expenditure, the dampers are not replaced, even though they could be completly blown. After all, no one sees your shiny new Koni's, do they?. Given that a lot of Honda Civic/CRX owners would rather have a car that looks dope rather than a car that handle like GTR Skyline, the dampers are over-looked and the next purchse will more than likely be a body-kit or a set of euro tail lights.

1) If I had a choice, no, I wouldn't have my car right now. Don't get me wrong, I dont mind having it, but I am working right now while still going to school to slowly save up for a car that I like.

2) It's not the extra door that makes me proud, I like all different sorts of cars ranging from hatchbacks, wagons, sedans, coups, or whatever. It just so happened I don't like YOUR car. Not because it is a hatchback, just due to the fact that it's not my style. In no way is it a personal attack towards you as a person. I'm just saying for a car, its not my thing.

3) I don't really think a car defines a ricer, as much as the person driving the car. You can have a normal looking car, but if you drive like a jackass and always try to race someone in traffic or something like that, you could also be a ricer.

4) The only mods I have to my car is an AEM CAI, 2.5" cat back exhaust with stock cat and a resonator put in, lowered about 1.3", 17" TSW Revo's, and other small shit like a cd player, 13" Grant GT steering wheel so that I can have a lil more leg room, and some newer speakers.

5) This is only a s/n...when I first joined I tried to sign up with 90civicrider, however that s/n was already taken, so i just changed rider to racer.

If he had a b20 under this hood I would still not like his car, plain and simple. I pulled over on the side of the road to help out a kid in a civic with a b18 in and I didn't like that one either due to some of his exterior mods. Perfect example, Slave has a b16 in his crx, "phat" motor in my opinion....but I don't like his car either.

The guy I know who had the APC coilovers did infact use his stock shocks first, and they did blow out. But then he bough new ones (I can't recall what ones he bought because it was about a year ago and had since wrecked the car and bout an '01), but they still rode like sh*t even with the new shocks. But I agree with you, I don't comprehend how people buy coilovers or springs and don't change out their shocks as well. A buddy of mine was going to sell me his old springs for $100, and didn't understand why I didn't want them until I got new shocks as well. I mean I like the lowered look as much as the next guy but *in my best Jimmy voice* I mean come-on; what's the point of lowering a car if it's not going to either give you a better ride and/or better handling.

And to everyone else...what's the point of bitching about who has the more riced out car? Most people here don't even live near eachother, so you don't even have to see the other person's "riced out" car on a daily basis; they do. Those who tell others that their cars are rice, just say it and move on. I can't believe how worked up people get around here... it's hard to please anyone in here cause it seems like every one is about speed. If someone wants an opinion then give it and move on, everyone's thoughts are different. Personally I don't care if I can beat someone in a race, i just want a reliable car that looks good to me... not too flashy and not too plain. If your car makes you happy why even make a poll? If it's technical or mechanical this is the place to come... take the advice weigh your options and do what makes yourself happy. Just my opinion.
