Greetings all....
I need some info. I'm being told of an ultra-rare '81 'Bird with some kind of hot 305. (?) Since I've never heard of it, I'm skeptical. Anyone have any thoughts on this. I have not inspected the car yet so I don't have any codes/numbers, etc.
Thanks for any input.

i think someone is stringing you along. the 305 in that bird was a crossfire injection i think, and those are far from being an engine worthy of the pontiac badge. slow and very unreliable.

Thanks for the response.
I don't recall ANYTHING spectacular from GM in '81!
The crossfire injection was a Corvette piece from '82 as I recall.
I'm going to check out this unit anyway as it's supposed to be really low mileage and original including the owner!
This should be interesting..........
Jim.....

81 was the last year for Pontiac V-8 (They used a Pontiac 4 cylinder in the 3rd gen Firebird. Crossfire was introduced in F-body in '82 (vin code 7)
The Chevy 305 was just a carb. 145 hp engine (vin H). Can't think of anything spectacular about it. The Pontiac 301 (150 hp VIN W) and the 4.9 Turbo (200 hp VIN T) were both offered as well. The only one with the Chevy v-8 (that could almost be considered rare) would have been the Trans Am Black special edition. But they was probably because people probably wanted the Pontiac engines instead.
There were 15 made hard top and 932 with t-tops with the chevy engine.
