Struts for 2G GST

Hi,
I just bought a used 2G GST that needs its rear struts replaced. This car has been lowered 1.6" with Eibach springs, but I believe the previous owner cheaped out and didn't change the struts, which is why they're squeaking/leaking now. I wish to get a reasonably priced (read cheap) set of struts that will support these lowering springs. From what I've found out, the KYB GR-2 stock replacements aren't good for lowered cars, and KYB is the cheapest brand I know of, compared to Tokico/Koni. I'm wondering what my other choices are? Are the KYB GR2 Performance 2K struts "compatible" with lowered cars?

Also, any good places to get them?

Thanks!

did you check the vendors listed in the faq? one or more of them should sell cheap lowering struts

Hmm which FAQ are you refering to? The forums FAQ simply addresses problems with the web board rather than car questions.

Anyway, I've found shox.com and howell automotive. They seem to offer good prices, but I'm not sure which struts are compatible with lowered cars, and google searches have yielded contradicting answers. Some say the GR-2 aren't good for lowered cars, other say that they're good for mildly lowered (<1.7" drop) cars.

my previous spyder was dropped more than 2". Tokico HPs worked well for me. I have heard that KYBs are a little longer than usual for 2Gs...check out road race engineering online, they have listed in their suspension section why they dont reccomend KYB for 2Gs.

Thanks guys, I ended up ordering a set of Tokico non-adjustables. Hopefully they work out fine :)
