If i cant get 3 inches in this size of the exhaust, can i just get 2.8 inches? I plan to upgrade my turbo in the summer perhaps to a 16g, so let me know if this will work out.

I don't understand the question. Yes, anything from 2.5+'' will probably work for most people. If you can get 2.8 somehow cheap, do it and don't worry.

I think what he's referring to is press bent, maybe? If you go with 3" press bent exhaust, and the bends aren't too severe, you should be looking at no more than 2.75 at the narrowest.
I don't remember if you're awd or fwd...fwd will require more bends, but even if your exhaust necks down in some areas, the 2.5" minimum piping should be free-flowing enough to get you into the 12s without trouble. Many have run 11s on 2.5" piping. I somewhat regret going with 2.5" pressbent, because there is one bend that I know has to be close to 2.25", hopefully not smaller. In any case, I plan on having a cutout after my 2.5" DP, so it won't affect my track times ;)

Kind of....I am in the process of ordering an Apexi N1 Exhaust for 465 dollars because i have no way of getting a custom exhaust around where i live. There is but itll cost the 435 and that is for press bent, not mandrel. The shop said they dont have a 3 inch exhaust, but they do have 2.8 inches for the N1...so i should i get it?.. i think both of you kind of answered that so thanks....is there anything else i should know? Sorry i wasnt so clear on the first post.

They have 2.8 inches for the N1? What does that mean!? You either buy the Apexi N1 exhaust from a company, or you have custom piping made. There is no way in hell a muffler shop should charge you $400 for custom pressbent. Even $200 would be outrageous for just a catback, but $400 is just waaay too much.
If the shop is going to charge you that much for custom piping, just buy the brand name for the same price. Make sure they know what you're talking about though...
Maybe their quote is for a turbo-back, exhaust (which is still really expensive for custom piping), but it is still cheaper than a $450 Apexi catback. Try and be more clear with your question if I am still misunderstanding you...? :(

no i swear man no kidding...they want to charge me for 435 tax included for the custom piping... and 350 tax not inlcuded without muffler supplied...yea i was like fuck you! But yea Apexi has 2.8 inch piping and my question is-will this be good enough for a future upgrade turbo?...(i have read that anything under three inch piping isnt good for a larger turbo upgrade)...2.8 isnt far from 3.0, so will i be okay in purchasing it?

I've never heard of 2.8" Apexi exhausts, but if that's what you're looking at, yes, it should be fine. Like I said, people have run 11s on 2.5" exhausts. If you are intending to be so serious about the sport that you want to run 10s or lower, you are going to have to go 3 inch. For $450 you should be able to find a decent 3" setup. But if the 2.8" exhaust you're talking about is easily available, and you want to get it, I think it will be fine low into the 11s.

Most of the rice brand exhausts are not a standard size. In fact I believe the apexi pipes gradually get larger as you go further back, some megphone marketing BS IIRC. Odds are its just the N1 catback, hence the strange size.
