I have a 92si auto-

I've noticed on my car that after it warms up, (running for over half hour) that sometimes after shifting into second when I push down accelerator the rpms jump up rapidly, maybe 1/2 rpm. When I push down the pedal after accelerating into 2nd the rpms jump slightly. Its not a problem shifting because it will shift and if i dont push down the accelerator hard it will accelerate normally but if I push it down a little harder I experience the jump. I have bosch platinum plugs which perhaps may be doing it but not sure. I think it may do this other times too, not just after shifting into second. Any suggestions?

maybe check your throttle is not prevented from rotating freely, you might want to lube it up.

yea its an auto

IT only does this after warming up a good bit. Transmission fluid is fine, its level and has been changed , its a nice red clearish color. So to resumarize the problem (its a little confusing ). When accelerating,, commonly after the car shifts into second, and pushing accelerater a little harder then what is was at before shifting I notice a slight very slight rpm jump. It may do this other times too. If I dont push the accelerator down a little more after shifting into second then it is fine.

this might be a simple case of regular downshifting that the automatic transmission does.

naturally if you're going up hill or want a little more power, pushing the pedal down further will cause it to downshift for you so that it won't be struggling in its current gear.

I'm positive that its not dowshiting because I can always feel it when that is taking place. Good sugestion on the throttle though because when I first bought the car the rope was half way off that spindle thing. I'm assuming thats what your talking about, i'll check that out..
Do you think it could be the plugs?

Could always be a missfire. I would look into that and your Transmission Fluid being short.
