as i see it, the majorty of posts on this forum ask for a diagonois or a repair how-to, since there haven't been any posts here for IONs yet( this sub-forum has only been open for two week) that tells me IONs are quailty, reliable cars.

my ION has a speed limiter at about 107 :(

Luckily i still have the rex... I wonder how a redline would go up against it.... its supposed to run a 15.3 in the quarter... i havn't taken my car to the track yet, but i am sure it runs 15's.

I have a 2004 Saturn ION3 2DR Quad Coupe and I have over 10,000 miles on it and though I drive the crap out of it, I have not had any problems.

I have a 2004 ION 3 QC. Got it at the end of June/04 and just hit 11,000 kms, not a single problem yet, 3 oil changes. I'm supposed to go in soon for the dealer things (daytime running lights and turn signals, and the rear bumper scuff problem under the trunk, and possibly the front control arm bushings but I haven't had the noise yet))

Installed a 2.5" cat-back exhaust system and custom made air intake and have a set of Eibach pro-kit springs lined up for the spring.

I frequent http://www.turbosaturns.net/forum/index.php a lot, excelent info and very knowledgable people. They now have a Ion/Ecotec performance section, where a guy is just installing the Haas turbo kit on a sedan, check it out......

I have a 04 Saturn Ion QC 2 with 12,000 miles and no problems.

One RL owner got 14.5 in 1/4 mile. Maybe quicker with 05 with LSD.

The Geo tracker was Made by Suzuki so had the advantage of Asian reliability.

The only thing that concernes me about the Ion and most Saturns is the huge shut lines. There is like a half inch gap all the way around the doors, and the leading edge is Chamfered which I blieve to be an attempt to catch light and higlight this side to make the gap appear smaller! The body lines never seem to match up well either.

sad owner is not specific about his problems so i really wonder. and then again that car could be the exception to the rule. ion`s are overall very reliable and very low maintenance.i saw a `03 ion with 115,000 miles on it and they were in for a front brake service.that was their only repair other than normal maintenance . as far as the polymer body panels go. enjoy them while you can. and yes they have greater clearance than metal panels but they don`t dent when the kid next door whacks them with his ball or bat or bike. and when someone opens their door into yours= no dent. check out the doors and fenders on older saturns. then look at a honda or toyota or any asian car or older domestic. they either have a bunch of little dents or some ugly looking door protection on. i will be sad to see the polymer panels go. just my take on things.

The best stock quarter for the Red Line that I've seen is 14.5. They're dynoing at 200-215 bone stock. Can you say underrated?
