Need help picking a system

I just joined the forums today, and I figure that a first post has to start somewhere..

I thought I had a system all planned out using crutchfield products, and everything seemed to be 'ok', running a little on the expensive side. After reading a couple of threads I see that crutchfield isn't very liked, and there are a lot of companies out there that offer something better, I'm just not familiar to any of it.

What I currently have:

(I bought this car with the system in it from a dealer)

Subwoofer wise I have 2 Planet Audio 10" subs.
350 RMS each.

(Should I port these?)
Also, does anyone know anything about Diamond Audio and Planet Audio?
2 Planet Audio amplifiers

Pioneer head unit
A pair of kenwoods in the back
Diamond Audio component speakers in the front.

As you can probably tell I'm no audiophile, so I really don't know much about wiring and all that fun stuff.

I am looking for a system of ~1000$ for the new car I'm getting, a BMW 325 or 328.

Bottom line:
I want somewhat good quality, but I also want it to pound hard when I want. So basically a good compromise in between.

Thanks in advance

planet audio makes some good stuff, not to bad. diamond audio is a high end brand, so thats good, but the kenwoods are probly the weak link in your system...

so do you want us to recomend a new system or what?

i'd say keep the head unit, diamond speakers and planet audio amps. sell the kenwoods. and keep the planet audio subs if you're happy with them. maybe try and sell them for something with a little more sq. and if you want, maybe replace your speaker amp, but only if the current amp isn't providing enough power. do you knwo the specs on the amps????

Actually Im going to be selling my car with the whole system in it. I want to get new components and learn about installing it while doing it.

Im not sure what they exactly are, it is really cramped in there and nearly impossible to see under it without taking out half of the system. (plus i dont wanna undo anything since im not smart enough to put everything back the way it was supposed to)

Theyre both different, although both of them are Apocalypse amplifiers.

Im happy with everything, and I agree that I don't really hear much of the music from the back (kenwoods)

I want a new system, I don't really need an opinion for a headunit. Mostly the front component speakers, and mainly subwoofers and amps. (Preferrably 2 12's)

what are you willing to spend on the speakers, subs and amps?

~1200 w/o installation costs and headunit
