supra turbo

hey,
i was surfing the net and found some pics of a really nice supra. but for some reason the turbo was sticking out of the hood. im pretty sure most turbo doesnt do this so why did it. heres the site with the pics of it:

You've never seen that? Turbo drag racing beasts do that alot.. think of it as a sign that they have plenty of time and money on their hands.

Simple, one less restriction for the engine plus slightly cooler air to boot, more HP. You do not want to air cool your turbo, because if you drive it in the rain you had better like cracking housings or manifolds, red hot turbocharger + cold rain = crack.
