Weird Vibrations

Hi guys i just bought a 2002 wrx sport wagon and ive been having some weird problems. I have never been in a subaru before but when cruising around at like 60mph there is a high pitched very soft humming noise, i assumed it was either the tranny or the 4wd system. I just wanted to know if this was normal for subaru's or not. Also i was driving and around 120 mph a VERY loud buzzing or humming sound started (almost a beep), this one didnt sound like it could be a normal problem so i hoped somebody had an idea of what it was.

I had the same weird beep at high speeds, i think it has to do with a weather seal cause i rolled down my window and put it back up and it stopped.

Umm.... you sure it's not the turbo spinning? That makes a high-pitched, very soft almost-beeping noise. It spins at something like ten times the rate of your engine, so it makes a really high-pitched noise. He did say he just bought it, and if he's never heard a turbo spool before that noise could be disconcerting. Just seemed to me that the answer too obvious to consider had not been considered... Dunno about the 120mph noise, though... I've never been that fast with the windows up.

I do think its the turbo spool... it kind of whistles and keeps a nice sound, when you get on it then it should get higher...

I dont know, at 120 the noise was really loud. It scared me and i backed off because of it, some time this week im bringing the car in to have it looked at. I just dont know what they are going to think when i tell them the noise only happens at 120mph!

Where were you driving 120mph in NJ?

i was on 95 going to and coming from philadelphia

Just wanted to let everyone know that the noise at 120 was something with the window. My buddy said he could feel it vibrating when i was going that fast. THanks ragnorak for the suggestion
