I have a Gen 3.5 (Camry 96) and I read through all the posts concerning the conversion of 9005 bulbs to fit the 9006 socket. I am concerned that the conversion might melt my harness. Can someone give me some inputs please? Thanks.

tntang,
You can check this out on the www.sylvania.com site. Your 96 Camry takes the 9006ST for low beams and the 9005ST for high beams; the ST stands for Silverstar. I have no knowledge about a conversion from one light to the other...sorry.

I think you'll be fine with silverstars because they are only 65 watts(9005) and normal is 55 watts(9006). Most bulbs that will melt the harness are 80-100+ watts. It's your decision to use them or not.

I've never heard of any of the 65 watt bulbs frying the harnesses...although like stated above, anything higher probably will toast your harness.
