3000GT(non-turbo) VS. Tiburon......but was this fair?

Well I picked up my wife from work and headed to the gas station to get some gas. as I pulled up to the pump I see a nice looking car in front of me gassing up. it was a blue Tiburon, possibly a 03 or 04, the guy had a carbon OEM hood on it and blue neon lights illuminating the inside of the car. he looked like a college kid, perhaps old enough to actually own the car. I've seen this guy before, two times to be exact. First time I saw him he was hauling ass down the SR after catching a glimpse o my car, second time was at a light but he was turning! I'm not sure what bothered me the most. the way he looked at my wife, the fact that he actually had neon tubes on the roof of the car or the fact he was wearing a pink shirt! well I decided not to even make eye contact. after he is done, he drives around my car and backs up to catch a good look at my badging. he coments to some other guy in the passenger seat. "is that a VR-4?" "nah man thats not a turbo" "bla bla bla"
then they drive off. THAT DOES IT. I am sick of people thinking that a POS stock econo sport can take me just cause I got no boost. I didnt care if my tank wassent full yet, screw it. I put the pump back up and drove off after them. well I caught up about a block down and as I'm matching thier speed we see the light ahead of us is red. PERFECT! I'll smoke em now! well as we are pulling up to it I see the corner lights go yellow. "crap" its about to go green and I anit even at a full stop! my wife looks around "no cops, if your gonna go GO NOW". well the light goes green right as both cars make it to the line. I pop it in second and try to launch...no good. the guy already has a car length on me. I hit about 5000 rpm and match him. I throw in third and gain a car length. fouth and I'm like two cars ahead......what the hell? is he not trying? I can hear his engine rev! he had the lead, I'm not even redlining....no where near it! I beat him but it dosent feel like a victory.
You guys get me? I mean if he wussed out does that mean I win?
Also what if it was a 4 cyl? or and auto? was it fair for me to run him just for dissing my car?
Does he desserve to get smoked for ricing out a perfectly nice car?
my car may be faster but I feel like a dumb ass now for even waisting my time (and gas)!

Perfectly fair. I raced a kid in a fart canned Civic just because he said that his pos Civic would beat my C320. No matter what, if he wants to race, its fair.

LOL, Hindu actually! no I payed with the card.......I should probably go back for the reciept though.....

I was just playin' Good Kill, and yes it is a win.

of course he deserved it. it doesnt' matter if he wasn't push over or not. the thing is he asked for it, so he got what he wanted, and you delievered a nice can of whoop ass on him. congrats.

it counts, a very easy way to tell if it's a v6 or not...
01 did not have a v6 model

v6's had dual exaust and a special bumper for that one purpose (cut to fit)

it counts because he went with you at the launch... even if he "stops trying" it's still a loss because you are racing him.

Actually I have a friend with I believe about an '03 4 cylinder that has the dual exhaust. It is a peppy little thing, but if it was the 4 that explains why you walked on him. The V6 is supposed to do 7.0 0-60 and around 15 through the 1/4 mile. They work pretty good. And he DEFINITELY deserved to get embarassed like that, good kill! :bigthumb:

I am sure it was a 4 cyl! no way a V6 would get taken so bad. but I know I will run into him next week at the hang out. hope he dosent act up cause I'm not the kind to rub a win in anyones face.

the V6 model, i think they are beautiful cars, but no geeeety-up. i think it goes 0-60 in like a high 7 second range, not sporty whatsoever. my friend has an SL and it has a pretty wide powerband and its a great looking car.

geez do i love the shifter on those things, but the clutch feels a bit flimsy. good kill.
