Questioning Hondas reliability reputation

i'm starting to question the reputation that honda have earned as being the most reliable.

i just had to have my complete dash replaced due to a illumination light burning a patch in the tacho fascia. the bike is only 1 year old and 6000k's (3700miles).

only bonus is that now my odometer reads zero k's.

had previous minor mechanical situations as well, but more problems with this new honda than with my previous second hand suzuki

I question Kawasaki's since the ZX-10R is facing its second recall thus far. The structure of the front wheel of most of the bikes are experiencing stress cracks and need to be replaced.

May be it's time for the 1000RR? heh.

i think i'll wait for 2005 run-out sale

As I have owned many bikes over the years, I always thought of the Japanese ones, Suzuki and Yamaha to be the best, with Honda at the bottom. This is not to say that Hondas are poorly made, not at all, but they do seem to use slightly more fragile componets and weaker fasteners than the other 3 makes.

down here the consensus is Honda, although not the top bike in its class, produce a well built, reliable and cosistent bike where as the others are less consistent. i.e. 'friday arvo specials' are common and no 2 bikes are ever the same. that may be why i miss my suzuki. it was an unpredictable beast

I know that in my "crew", they always spout stuff about HonDUH is the best... and then they spend just as much time wrenching as the rest of us.
