Confusion with 93 ex

I think I saw this one asked and answered before, but I can't find it now so bear with me.

I just bought a 93 ex and thought it was a VTEC (block does not say vtec but I was under the impression some vtec blocks just aren't labled, saw a 95 ex with non vtec block stock onces) but now I read places like kbb.com and edmunds and they say nothing about pre 94 civics having vtec (this is the coupe). So can someone clear it up for me, 93 ex coupe, is or is not vtec? Sorry if that's a dumb question, it sure as hell is one I never though I would have to ask.

Yes it is a VTEC engine, a D16Z6 to be exact. Hope this helps.

yea exactly. Any 92-95 Civic EX is VTEC no matter what. Just like xplocivic said it's the D16Z6. ;)

Thanks! I a friend of mine who is supposedly in the know said that all VTECs have the VTEC header stamp and carfax only says 1.6L FI. But then again my friend is also a notorious liar. Thanks for clearing it up guys!!!
