WTF?
a cop followed my friend's prelude to his house and then pulled him over and then gave him a ticket for the cold air intake, the exhaust, and the altezza lights!
aren't cops suppose to follow people who sell drugs or super gangsta whatever?
my friend and i are so f*ing pissed....just wanna share my feelings.

I know exactly what you mean I got pulled over 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night. I was getting ready to go cruzzin in Cleveland, our hot spot around here and less than a block before the exit I saw blue lights behind me and I thought it might have been for speeding but I was going the speed limit since the exit was coming up so I was expecting a him to try and give me a speeding ticket and I was going to rip it up and tell him to shove it. It turned out he pulled me over for my euros and the ticket I got for them was $141. I am going to take a pic of the IS300 tails and take it to court on april 15th and tell the judge how can the be illegal if these cars come with them form the factory. If anyone wants to give me ideas on what to say or take to court please tell cause I dont want to pay it.

they arent illegal, but you have to see what the law says. some states don't allow modified tails, etc, but check it out...
go to www.sema.org, they should be able to get you the info that states what is not ticketable on your vehicle... intakes/exh, are not and the lights, if they are from a good company, should have a dot (dept of transportation) number on them, which means they are approved/legal. some have a sea number also, more evidence that the cops are profilin.

A ticket for the cold air intake? What law was he violating with a CAI??? Did the cop make him open the hood or something? If so, then someone needs some supervisor smackdown.

The clear tail lights are flat out annoying, but I don't understand ticketing for all the other stuff.

yeah, sh*t. the first thing the cop did is to ask him to open his hood. I think that cop's probably done this kinda crap for a lot of times....
man, i dunno, i am scared to put stuff on my car now....i don't wanna get tickets man.

You get anal jerks in every job....too bad you found one who happens to be a cop!If your buddy was just mindin' his own biz,and not driving like Krusty,it sounds like he hit a plod with an attitude problem.
As for the serious biz of catching crims....Iwouldn't cross the street for the average cop's wage, there's no incentive in the job to do any more that stop traffic.

unless your cold air intake is hidin some illegal shit or can shoot out grenades, then i don't see how you could get pulled over by a cop for one....probably has some secret fear of imports because he got burnt by them or something....either that or he's on crack.....i'd still put a cold air intake in my car....and just to piss him off throw some NOS into the mix or get a carbon fiber hood or some Sparco bucket seats or something....i'd like to see the look on his face then:p :D :flipa:

not if mr. piggy doesn't see it...they have setups where you can't find them like the red mazda rx-7 with the veilside body kit that was featured in F&F and they have ones where you can have a quick shot of it if u have a little nos bottle under the dash or something, plus there's always the trunk. if i learned anything in 10th grade history, always put shit like beer and in this case nos, in the trunk cuz the cops can't search your trunk without probable cause....as for the red buttons and the momo fighter steering wheel however...you gotta be pretty tricky with that;)

He then proceeded to his car, came back with a few tools, and ripped up all of the hoses, and ripped out all of the aftermarket parts and stuff under his hood, and then gave him a ticket for having the NOS.
Sometimes cops can be straight a$$holes. This isn't the first I've heard about cops doing this either. :angryfire: :zx11pisse: I swear it pisses me off to hear about crap like this.
The guy couldn't fight it in court either because it was his word against 2 officer's words. His shit was messed up, and he had to pay all of the fines. :(
The law is freaking crooked.

oh! I forgot another thing that happened! When I got into my accident, one of the guys that used to be in my crew was in front of me. He had a pretty sick ass Tacoma truck. I mean full on custom EVERYTHING. He had those little windshield washer lights too. Now after everyone pulled off to the side of the road, all of the cars seemed okay, but his truck was hella leaking stuff out from under his engine. The cars started leaving after all of the insurance info was exchanged, but I stayed with my friend because he couldn't drive his truck. Eventually there were only like 3 cars left...mine, his, and one other guy's. So as we were waiting for the tow truck to come, this CHP pulls up. He comes up to us and asks if we need any help, and we told him that we had already done everything and it was all under control. He was like okay, and started to walk away, and then noticed the lights coming from his washers. The cop stopped and walked back to us and was like, "who's truck is this?" My buddy was like, "it's mine" So the cop was like, "what the hell are those?" and he just kind of looked at him. The cop was like, "those are illegal and if you don't get rid of them I'll give you a ticket" My buddy was like, "okay" and just kind of stood there. The cop leaned over to his ear and yelled "I mean now!!" So he started to get under his hood and was like, "well I don't know how" So the cop was like "Like this..." and he ripped the tubes, wires, everything out. Completely disregarding the fact that this kid's truck was totalled, he was a dick.
Oh! Another thing then, another one of my friends got into an accident in his '98 Teg. He flew into a field and rolled like 4 times, K? I mean you couldn't even tell what kind of car it was--it got so messed up. Somehow he managed to walk out and he called and I was the first one on the scene. A bunch of cars from our crew were there to make sure he was alright, but we decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to have like 5 cars with the same sticker on the windshield there when the cops came, so everyone left but me. The whole time my friend was sitting on the ground and he was so close to tears he was just shaking and wouldn't talk or anything. So finally the cops came, and what's the first thing they do? Run MY plates. I was like, 'okay...'
Then he walks over to my friend and tells him to stand up. My friend was hella shaky (I mean he SHOULDN'T have lived if you saw this car after the accident, it's a freaking miracle), so he was kinda wobbly when he stood up, and the cop immediately started doing all of those drug tests on him, asking if he doing anything, etc. Then the cop hella started being a dick to him, LYING and saying "yeah, there were reports of a red car racing up and down this street, was it you?" and my friend was like, "I was just on my way home from work" And the cop kept on trying to get stuff out of him that wasn't even there and accusing him of stuff that wasn't even happening. He was just harassing him and being like "why aren't you talking? what's wrong with you? are you on drugs?" and this and that, and I was just like, "omg, have you not seen what happened to him???" The cop finally went out into the field and found his car and looked at it, and he was like "damn". Even when he came back he was like, "you're lucky".
<sigh>
I dunno...I've met some cool cops and all, but I just hate how biased they are when it comes to modded cars...imports especially.
I think I get off a little easier, because there's been a few times when they were about to pull me over, and then they look over and see that I'm a girl, and keep on going (probably think it's my b/f's car or something...hahaha little do they know I've done it all myself... :evillaugh ) . I think it's incredibly unfair, but hey, that's life I guess...

i have an idea! what youi could do is maybe equip your car with a videocamera, so that if the pigs ever pull you over you can hit the record button if they pull any funny shit such as what the dick did to the tacoma. then take that cop to court and file charges, he'll end up paying for the damages and they won't fuck with you....or will they with the way that this system works they could stop a teenager if they had an open soda can in their car that they were drinking out of when they were pulled over....case in point the system sucks:mad:

I hear stories like this all of the time (none quite as bad as the tacoma or the other "Teg") I think some cops are just assholes plain and simple. I feel really lucky that I've never gotten harassed or anything like these guys. the one time I got pulled over I was pissed off, I was going to school driving down the 4 lane highway and I see the cop behind me so I drive the speed limit, this ass wad next to me flys past me cause I'm going to slow for him and the cop moves over into his lane. I kinda chuckled like haha hes gonna get you dumb-ass well as the cop passes me he looks over at me and slams on his brakes and gets back behind me so I'm like WTF aren't you going to get that guy? well to make a long stort short he stays behind me for like 1 1/2 miles and finally pulls me over for and expired liscense plate sticker, while hes running my plates he has the nerve to ask me if it's my car. I'm thinking to my self "yea I ripped of my neighbors car to go to school asshole  " ) luckily he was cool and didn't do anything else (he did eyeball my neon bar I got in my back seat but never said anything about it, which suprised me cause it's blue :sun: ) so far besides that I've never been pulled over (knock on wood) even though my car is loud and it's a sports car in thier eyes. lucky me :)

fucking true just following modifiers is wasting time theres far more crack heads and dope dealers driving around at late night than modifiers and secondly i don't think that they're aloud to check you engine without reason cause and they can't search your car they can only look in it
why on earth do they bother its a stupid rule they have better things to be doing than pulling people over for this shit i blame the legislative branch of the governent

I've thought about doing this... the only problem is you don't know what part of the car they'll be at. For example, if they open the hood it will block the camera... so you need like 5 cameras: under hood, front, rear sides and roof.
Any ideas?

what state are you in?? #1 the altezza lights, should be DOT legal, unless they're completely clear. #2 the intake is not citable. #3 they can't even cite you for the exhaust. all they can do is give you a repair order.

keep a tape recorder in your glove box, when you see a cop on your tail just put it in your pocket and hit record as you see the lights, pull over, and if he does anything stupid, just say wtf are u doing "im pulling out the wires in your car" "ok see you in court"

I'm almost positive that unless all parties involved are partial to the information that they are being audio (or even video) recorded, that it is inadmissable in court. I seem to recall this from a case where an answering machine picked up all of a phone conversation, but because the other party didn't know they were being recorded it was worthless.
Kinda like how when you call into Tech support you hear that part of the automated process that states that "all calls may be monitored or taped" to ensure satisfaction.

english would of been more understandable, but from what i could understand im asuming you ment that its useless unless they know there being recorded, well i know in usa(or atleast some states) that cops have video cameras for when they pull people over, do they ask the person "you are being recorded at the moment, oh and you were speeding 20mph over the limit"
i have never heard that on COPS or LAPD life on the beat
maybe you could say "im recording this" if you say it away from him so he doesnt hear and its in the tape, it would be good odds in court if you do it properly, but if he is with another cop that wouldnt work.
if he is with another cop or witness then you could just tell him as you open the bonnet and he might be alittle intimidated to do anything dumb.

1)i think most altezza lights are legal now.....i am in California.
2)The cop just told my friend to pop the hood, and he saw the CAI, and he said it's illigal and told my friend to take it off
3) Same thing for exhaust, the cop said it's illigal.....has to take it off.
Finally he gave my friend a ticket for all the mods, and my friend paid $10 in court for the ticket. (of course he had to take everything off before he went back to court)
my other friend has an Injen CAI, and he went to an Injen dealer or something, and got some documents saying that it's legal. i don't know if that'll work for cheap no-brand intake...
