190 E engine swap

I have a running 1985 190 E however the tranny is gone. Instead of getting a new tranny Im looking into putting in small V6 and 5 speed from a domestic. Any help, suggestions or comments would be helpful!! Somebody please give me some reply. Good idea, Bad idea, ect...
