I have a stock car but i put on 750cc fuel injectors and a really powerful fuel pump but now my car doesnt run very good for some reason. im pretty sure it is my exhaust does anyone have any ideas for an exhaust to combo with this upgrade?

you're a retard, you obviously need more fuel

add a fuel pressure regulator to crank up the fuel pressure all the way, that should fix your problem

Ok get RID OF THOSE FUEL INJECTORS! Thats way too much flow man. You dont need that much for a stock engine! Hell you dont them period for a stock engine. Put your stock ones back on.

i forgot to tell i already added an aem fuel pressure regulator so i should have enough fuel. my freakin check engine light is on now too wtf is going on?

You're not getting it. Its causing so much flow your motor can't even handle it. I'm telling you to put your stock ones back on.

LSfrankenstein
09-30-2004, 11:55 PM
nah i figured it out i think. im going to put a 4" exhaust on to keep it from backfiring so freakin much and get a skunk2 chip to increase my rev limiter so i can rev higher to use the fuel. thanks man

mellowboy
09-30-2004, 11:56 PM
Wtf? What you got done on your motor?

mellowboy
09-30-2004, 11:59 PM
You gotta do alot more research. IT looks like you dont know what your doing at all. Supras doesn't even use 4 inch exhaust! Its not gonna help stop the backfiring. YOu gonna loose alot of pressure.

You obviously know nothing about engines. the more fuel u need the bigger exhaust u need its that simple. plus i took the filter off my intake to add more air which is fine since its summer time all the filter does is stop water

LSfrankenstein
10-01-2004, 12:10 AM
yes. everyone knows that the more fuel u get the more horsepower your car will get. My LS vteck frankie puts out 250 by itself and now im prolly pushin around 330 hp and 450 ft-lb of torque just by my fuel upgrades alone. once i get my shit runnin good ill be smokin fools. im takin it to get dyno tuned tomorrow

the mere fact that you say your honda motor is putting out more torque than it is horsepower nullifies your statement completely

Shut up, seriously. The reason it's not running right is because you're getting way too much fuel into the engine. Now, I'm going to go slow so you understand this.

Engines strive for an air to fuel ratio of 14.7:1 (oftentimes called "stoich"). Reducing the fuel results in a hotter combustion; increasing the fuel results in a cooler combustion. What you're doing is obviously the latter, and the combustion you're getting is simply not going to work properly.

yes. everyone knows that the more fuel u get the more horsepower your car will get.

Now this is just retarded.

Think of it this way: a combustion engine is basically a glorified air pump. In naturally aspirated form, air and fuel inside the combustion chamber is ignited, and the increase in temperature causes the air to expand and force the piston down. At this point, the expanded air is drawn through the exhaust valves. The exhaust valves are closed, and the piston finsihes its downward stroke, resulting in a lower pressure inside the chamber. When the intake valves open, the higher atmospheric pressure outside causes air to be drawn into the chamber. This is then compressed (by way of intertia), then ignited, and the cycle repeats.

Is this making sense so far?

Now, in order to increase power, what do you have to do? Pump more fuel in? No. You have to increase the volume of your ideal air:fuel mixture. The more of a charge you have inside the chamber, the greater the effect of the pressure differences, the more you're going to move through the engine, and the more power you're going to make.

RedLineZO6

i'm going to have to agree with hyperion...
all that extra fuel is doing you no good without the extra air to burn it. A fatter exhaust isn't going to do good enuf. Those size injectors are more for a turbo set-up... you've probably got so much fuel its pooling on ur valves and ur gunna literally burn a hole through them.

by big guns he means real techies. people who know about building engines, know about tuning engines, and know about going fast.

ever see people who win the lottery and then go out and buy the most expensive car, the biggest house they can find, and fill it with the most expensive furniture ever made? only the entire house is tacky and doesnt work well as far as design goes. thats because biggest and most expensive isnt always the best.

you need to build with a goal in mind. research parts before buying them. dont just get the biggest fuel pump available, the biggest injectors, the most expensive fuel regulator, and then say that you will have enough air to mix with the gas because you took your air filter out. geez kid, those injectors are designed to work on forced induction cars, do you think that your NA honda engine can actually move that much air?

SiGNAL748
10-01-2004, 12:47 AM
might as well be pumpin diesel in your tank. cuz you don't have enough air to be burning all that

:wtf: :chair:

Okay let me get this straight. You have a LS/Vtec. And you put in 750cc injectors and fuel pressure regulator? And you think using a 4inch exhaust will fix that? Do you have a turbo setup or any major mods first that would help us to help u? If you running stock and using 750cc injectors that is your problem. 4inch exhaust wont do nothing but fuck things up worse. Most turbo acuras/hondas dont even go that high so if you dont have a turbo......ahhh fuck it

I think I lost a few brain cells by just reading the things you posted on here!!

you think the filter is just for water??? Seriously, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!! if you take of the filter, your goanna make it worse..
I’m sure there’s lots or reasons that the guys on here are going to tell you why.. Dude don’t come into a forum a post like you know what your talking about

Just do what I do, sit back, read and learn!!!!

no for more hp you need more fuel ALONG with more air. adding too much fuel will create a rich mixture and pretty much make your engine weaker. a air filter doesnt stop water; it stops debris from getting into your engine. a bypass valve stops water; but rarely work. your exhaust flow will suck so you will lose even more hp there.

If I were you, upgrade to 1000cc injectors, and the hell with an exhaust, just take off your ex. manifold completely, all the extra hot air flowing out the head will push more air into your filterless intake and put those injectors to use!

Just make custom shortie single headers with cut-outs in the hood! Then the exhaust could go directly out, and have less of a chance of blowing around and melting stuff! Then you could set up a ram-air intake by making a custom cutout in the hood to hook the intake to! That would really help all that fuel to be put to good use!

the simply fact that mellowboy received an e-mail from LSfrankenstein
to play along is most definitly disrepecting this forum in all ways,
false article about somthing thats not true & some pretty good mechanics telling true facts,
also he is a newbie,just started a profile today,10-01
if hes going to be listing fake articles throughout the forum, several different times, about things that could really hurt an engine & still backing it up,this forum could fall to its knees.

the filter stops water, bugs, feathers, etc. all wich could get in your engine... you dont want that! instead clean your filter frequently.
