I need to set base timing on 1990 Suburban 4X4 1/2 ton. What color wires do you need to disconnect the computer and where are they located?
I also removed the emmission pump but now I have a open hole on each valve cover. I have been told I still need to install a PCV. Do I need one for each side? How does the tubing to and from the PCV route?
Thank you in advance.

You should be able to put a universal crankcase breather in each valve cover. They are available at most auto parts stores.

To set the base timing you miust disconnect the tan w/ black stripe located underneath the plastic cover on the firewall. The fuel pump relay is also located there.
The wire has a single contact weatherpack connector.Once disconnected you can then set the base timing.

Hey, I know this is an Older thread, BUT, in my own quest to find this single wire connector to disconnect for setting the Base Timing, I have been led astray by about 2.5 feet.... My connector was on the DRIVERS side engine compartment firewall near the windsheild wiper motor. Took me FOREVER to find it!!! :2cents: :banghead:

Sometimes it's behind the glovebox too.
