I am a very curious person. Please answer a few questions for me first.
1. Why do we see the same list of questions with the exact wording and introduction many times over?
2. What school do you attend where the teacher does not teach these things to you but asks you to get your knowledge from strangers on the internet?
3. How many other forums did you just join and post this same question to?
4. highchool?
5. is it normal for high school students to have engineering classes? Most of you can't read and since you are in chool I doubt you should be engineering anything but a pencil sharpener.
6. Best college for mechanical engineering? Ask you teacher. He or she should know.
I hope this helps because my fingers hurt from typing. Lousy Logitech engineer must not have seen the latest recommended ergonomic keyboard design guide.

I am also going to school to become an automobile engineer; the thing is what you are planning on doing on the cars. Engine-mechanical is mechanical engineering. The body and inside is Industrial engineering.

I too am curious. In my opinion it appears the questions you are asking are almost market research based. Am I correct or am I just too cynical. Most of the questions you are asking could be answered by any university or college anywhere in the world. Satisfy my curiosity and I may agree to answer your questions.

Many engineering programs (typically first year) do actually have you talk to engineers in various fields, but I have never heard of having to find the engineer your self and survey him. My APSC 1120 class sounds similar to what it looks like he is doing, however I just have to go on prearranged trips and talk to various engineers. I suppose this isn't too far fetched.

Suppose you researched organizations in your area concerning engineering? And emailed or called some engineers with a less helpless plea?

My dad is an engineer so i'l answer
1. CHemical/environmental
2. DEP Massachusetts: Air pollution control
3. Interview i suppose, he's been there 18 years
4. Leaves at 5 am, 1:30 hour commute to boston, leaves at 5 same commute or more home, four day work week
5. Oh boy, lets see, mostly meetings, computer, stack testing, and on the rare occasions 4 am truck testing, plus the occasional trip to DC for the multibillion dollar powerplant struggles.
6. Lets see, Harvard, Brown, Merrimack (north andover mass) Marlborough (vermont) WIsconsin (same school as harrison ford) and i think thats it. (he went to all of em, my dad)
7. Feeling the wraith of MItt romney
8. Likes it, but doesn't enjoy commuting into boston every day, used to be closer to home. He also likes the four day work week he set up for himself.
9. Mostly permiting multi billion dollar powerplants, and solving problems, he kicks some serious ass, i've seen and heard legends.
10. My dad is a chem engineer, but im on my way to becoming a mechanical engineer
That just about does it, I know its chem engineering, but it may be of some insight
