hi im on a little budget and was looking at this combo of a lanzar amp and dual 12's... i already have a pioneer cd-player.... i was wondering how good would the combo be??? would it be very loud ??? im kinda lookin for a amp and sub for under 250 if anyone has any other suggestions....would the Lanzar VIBE241 1000 Watt 2 Channel MOSFET Amplifier be better than the heritage?? if i were to get this would it be better to have the subs bridged or just use the indvidual channels??
Thanks for any help
Alex

the subs are crap, I can tell because there's no brand name, they're rated in max power, they come housed in a bandpass box, and there are absolutely no usefull specs, the entire description just talks about useless cosmetics. So the subs are out, and the amps aren't much better. The only Lanzar worth mentioning is the Opti series, all the other ones aren't worth the scrap metal they're made out of.
Amp and sub under $250? That won't get you very far, maybe a shiva in a custom ported box on a profile california, but once you add in supplies for the box that'll put you over budget. You really can't get anything quality in that price range, and I don't mean "quality" as in "the best there is", I mean "quality" like "won't kick the bucket after 5 minutes of play".

DO you listen to sh*t for car audio? COME ON MAN. Have you been in any car audio store? that is cheap as crap for one sub... If you don't give a rip about how something sounds loud or quality and just want bass get something cheap...
I looked on ebay at the crap woofers that still get loud... 150 for 2 that only do 300 watts a piece at MOST...

sry for all these posts but i got alot of time on my hands today.... but i was reading that a profile ca-600 with a tempest would be good... would it??

go AP before clarius, see if you can find some CA amps..
bigal0043
10-05-2004, 05:05 PM
how much space would a tempest take up would i be better off with just a shiva?? hey haibane would u suggest using the ca-600 or the ca-600m ??
sr20de4evr
10-05-2004, 05:06 PM
yes a ca600 would work well on a tempest, but a tempest needs a very large box...so just keep that in mind. About 3-4cf sealed or 4-5cf ported would be good
bigal0043
10-05-2004, 05:41 PM
alright so that decides it i will get a profile ca-600 with a shiva i dont got enough space for a tempest... i looked at adire and found some specs for a sealed box anyone got any suggestions for one???
sr20de4evr
10-05-2004, 05:48 PM
you should email them for box specs, there aren't too many suggestions on their site for car boxes. If I had to guess I would say ~2cf sealed or ~3cf ported tuned to ~30hz. Double check with them though, in my experience they're pretty fast at responding to emails.

hey quick question would a shiva be better on the ca-600 or ca-600m the regular 600 is a 2 channel vs the m which is mono http://www.profileusa.com/products_amps_ap.cfm ??here is a link to the boxes i was referring to..
http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/SealedShivaApplications.PDF
and where is the best deal to buy either the ca-600 or m version??

oh to clear up something when i said any suggestions for a sealed box i was meaning for me to make one....
sr20de4evr
10-05-2004, 06:40 PM
yeah those boxes are for home usage, you should email them for car audio suggestions. It might end up being the same, but it's worth a shot
And the 600 would be better since the shiva can only be wired to 4ohm. If it could be wired to 2ohm then the 600m would be a better choice, but it can't.

profile just came out with a new line to replace the california series, it should be as good or better than the californias, but unfortunately I forgot which line it is. If I was going to run a profile amp, those ones or the californias would be the only ones I would run.
www.millionbuy.com has good prices on profile amps
the 600 is all you would need, you should only need 300rms or so to reach full excursion, any more than that is just headroom
and yes, since it's a 2ch amp, you would need to bridge it to the sub

That amp has the ability to severely damage a shiva
That's not necessarily a bad thing though, as long as you know how to use the extra power it will be fine.

now whould the 1200 be able to push 2 shivas eventuall when i get the money?? if that is the case should i just buy that and just not turn up the sound real loud on one shiva??
sr20de4evr
10-05-2004, 08:27 PM
No the 1200 won't work too well for a pair of shivas, the load would be all wrong and you'd only get 200 going to each.
The 1000 would be a better match for 1, but it wouldn't be able to power a pair either. If you want to get a 2nd shiva later then you should find a mono amp that puts out about 800x1 @ 2ohm.

cool.. hey i ordered the ca-600 so it should be here soon. but another quick question when i go to hook the amp to the sub woofer what kind of connections do i need.. like i heard dual coil subs are harder than single coil.. the shiva is dual right so how does that hook up??
snb778
10-07-2004, 01:44 PM
If you want to turn heads man, i suggest you try saving up a little more money...the only subs at best buy that will turn heads are the R.F. and MAYBE some of the pioneers. Also as far as amps go, DO NOT buy pyle, lanzar, or pyramid. I had an 800 watt pyramid going to an 800 watt rms audiobahn and it LITERALLY barely moved the cone!!

(to this post)...wowwww, buddy you cant turn any heads with the price you are puttin down. Car audio almost always costs more than you think. Unless you are gonna do the entire install yourself. (speakin of which, anyone know where any good car audio schools in the states are? I would really like to take some classes on it, please PM me if you do)
