86 camaro in need

I am in the process of buying a 1986 camaro RS for $800. The car is in good condition but does have some problems.1 Win in drive if u rev over 3500rpms the engine just stops accelerating it keeps moving forward but will not acelerate.2 The drivers side winder motor is shot. These are the only known problems with the car. can anyone help me with this? thanks :feedback:

1st, whats a winder? u mean window?? and the reving part means ur car's overdrive is out.

Winder = window and the car has a brand new transmission so it shouldn’t be the overdrive or is that controlled by something else?

Auto or manual? What kind of transmission? So your saying it will rev to 3500 and stay at that rpm, but still go, or go to 3500 and up to higher rpms but it wont put power to the wheels?

it stays at 3500 and it is an auto

this happens in all gears?

never got out of first gear because of the problem

wow that's a weird one, throttle cable is being held up by something maybe, can you put the pedal to the floor?

yes put the car seems to be trying to die if u do. your sig.mode me lol

so it's either starving of fuel or spark.

no check engine light?

this is also bringing the limp home mode in my head too

the service engine soon light comes on. so could it be a fuel pump or it needing plugs? I am going to try to find a used engine around here if nothing else but that is a last resort

ok, the SES light is a start, do you know how to check for the trouble code?

no I was told by a friend at school that his car did the same thing because of a clogged fuel filter

you take a paper clip and straighten it, then make it into the shape of a U, then you find your computer interface terminal under the driver side dash. the 2 slots on the upper left side I believe (someone correct me if i'm wrong) you wanna stick one end of the paper clip in each of those slots to jump the connection together, then, with every accessory in the car off, turn the ignition on all the way short of cranking it. you should hear the engine fan come on. then watch for the SES light in your gauge cluster, it should start flashing codes to you. at first it'll be code 12, which it will go... FLASH.........FLASH FLASH (single flash, then a pause followed by a double flash) it'll do that 3 times to tell you it's working, then it'll flash trouble codes in the same manner, they're all 2 digit codes, like a code 33 will be "Flash flash flash.......flash flash flash" it'll show all codes three times in a row and when it's finished it'll go back to the code 12. try it out and let me know what you get. If it seems too complicated take it to autozone and they'll scan it for free.

i dont have the car yet i am just tring to figure out how to fix the problem after i buy it

oh ok then, go buy a haynes manual, it'll explain all that and more, best $10-15 you can spend on a car.

well then, go TO the car, run the codes, and then we can help you. the computer is there for a reason, if the Check Engine light comes on, the computer is jumping up and down wanting to tell you whats wrong, so why ignore it and keep guessing at the problem?????
