Window Problem

Well I have another problem here and I'm hoping someone can help. Just had two new tires put on the rear this morning, drivers side window was working fine. When I left I noticed my drivers side window wouldn't go back up. It doesn't stutter or move slowly, it's like the motor is completely dead. Funny thing is the motor is brand new and has been working fine for over a month. Interior light and my power locks still work. Anyone have any ideas? I'm hoping it's a fuse or something else that's easy to get at because I'd hate to think that a window motor that I bought off the dealership isn't working, plus its a pain to replace anyhow.

is it possible that the circuit breaker on my fuse box is bad? my passenger side window works fine, so i don't know if a bad WDO breaker would cause this type of problem. are there any other fuses i should check that would cause the drivers side to stop working completely? i've also wondered about the switch next to my brake, could that have gone bad and if so how do i take it out to check it and whatnot? thanks for any help.

Start doing some trouble shooting. Look at what fuse controls the window, check the stuff thats on the same fuse. Check which relay controls it and test it, take the switch out and test that, and if it comes down to it check the wires going to the motor. You'd be surprised how much you can learn with a voltmeter...

If it weren't for my compression, vacuum, and voltometer tester I would have sold my truck long ago from it not working. They are well worth the investment if you have an old car/truck that has regular problems they will pay for themself in the time, trouble, and money it takes to bring it to a shop. Just my :2cents: .

i do have a voltage tester. switched the fuse from the good passenger side to the drivers side, still didn't work. now im kinda bummed cuz it seems like im gonna hafta rip my door apart again. if there's a relay under the hood maybe someone can let me know which one and where so i can try that too. i don't like to think it's the motor because it isn't movin at all, which leads me to think it's an electrical problem. thanks for the help, again if anyone knows where that relay is please let me know.

it's a 91 z28. very weird things have been happening lately, now my power locks have gone south. the window thing really got me though, i switched a good fuse into the drivers side and it didnt help, it doesn't move at all so im pretty sure its an electrical issue, but if it isn't the fuse then im lost. people were talking about relays and i checked out a diagram of the wiring for power windows and there's a circuit breaker as well (same thing i dunno my terminology isnt the best) so im just wondering what is causing all these electrical issues and what to replace or fix. any help is greatly appreciated.

ok, look at your control switch first, swap the passenger side switch and see if it'll operate the window, if it does, then the answer is obvious. I'd rule out fuse because both windows should be on the same circuit, take off your door panel and make sure it didn't come unplugged. if the motor is bad again already then the dealer should replace it free, unless something caused it to fry just like that.

yeah the motor is still under warranty. by control switch im assuming you mean the switch that you press for up and down (lol bare with me) and i see that there are wires for each so i can try to switch them next chance i get. as for the fuse, there are two fuses for each window, so again i know im not very knowledgeable on this but i do know that if i take out the fuse for the passenger side, for example, the passenger side window will not work, upon replacing it it works, and so what i tried to do was use that switch for the other WDO fuse (there are two unique fuses again im assuming one for each window) which could only have been for the drivers side, and no go. but like you said that doesn't mean the fuse is bad, thanks again guys for the help, im gonna try switching wires here and hopefully that will let me know if it's a bad switch.

don't forget to make sure it didn't come unplugged behind the door panel
