Hey there everyone, I just did a search on this forum, and I couldn't come up with anything so... I was wondering how much it would cost to have a custom paint job like this...

(the viper)... done on a GT, and does anyone in here have any other custom paint job pictures that I can take a look at too for ideas...? thanks!

IT depends. Are you looking to get the entire car repainted a different color or just do the racing stripes (or the like)? Adding the stripes (or the like) on your existing paint will only cost a few hundred. Repainting can be a few thousand.

Yeah, it's gonna be a couple thousand for a good job. Don't get one of those crappy paint jobs because in that realm, it's you get what you pay for.

this varies from city to city and Slade is right about the quality, you wanna be carefull or a $600 job will last you a year!
if it helps any I got quoted $1000.00 to repaint my car same color with factory quality paint guaranteed for 4 years. to change the color same quality $2000.00. for a show class color and high performance finish (what you seek) and guaranteed up to 6 years was $3600.00.

guess I wont be having that candy pink 3000GT with the metallic purple racing stripes for a while huh?

I don't know about the high quality paint job prices, but I know what Mushashi said about the $600 paint job is true. When it's in the $500-$750 it's usually a poor quality paint and lasts for about a year. Best for when you're going to sell the car and you don't want to put too much money into it to make it look better. If you're keeping it, you're gonna want the good quality paint job.

If you go to teh "cars in general" part of this forum, then under 'car detailing' there is a section devoted entirely to auto painting, with quite a few knowledgable professionals that may be able to help.
