That thing looked like those tire destroyers used in Rental car entrances that allow the vehicle to go over it in one direction, but if you back up or go in the opposite direction the steel rods will puncture your tire. I guess they did it for the smoking effect. Not the best stunt overall in the movie.

Seriously, this is the first time I've seen it and I was impressed. The music actually went well with the stunts.
