Right after high school I got a job working at a beer factory. The manager let us take home all the beers that were damaged, mostly the can ones that could not stand upright. It was pretty cool having all the beers you can drink...except for the fact that you couldn't set them down. Aaahhh memories...... :grinno:

My current job: I sit here at a computer, surfing the web and posting on AF all day. No free beer, but it's all good.

Best job I ever had was working with my dad at his garage, I'd pretty much do nothing and get paid for it(haha it was a tax right off for him so he didn't care) i mean there might be times when I have to sign for incoming parts or make up work orders and get parts but for the most part I'd sit out front read old hot rod magazines and shoot the shit with his customers, or the best thing was sleeping lol...I've actually had a place where I could sleep it wasn't a bed by no means it was just underneath the main counter there was a shelf a bit over 5'5" long so I'd just curl up under there hahahahaha...Mind you I was only 11 or 12 when I started working there and quit lastyear when I was 19. So yea it was deff my favorite job so far in life.

I'm at the best job i've had since, i've worked at the same place since i was 14 years old, except now i have a kick ass job. Working on cars. I work under my dad, and the owners get along with me real well, one of them is like a grandfather to me. When i'm not busy i sit down in the employee lounge and post on AF.

It was also my first and least paying job...
I was 14 (freshman in HS) and I worked for the athletic department. I'd help setup for games after school and keep scores et cetera. It was fun because I was just a freshman and I got to watch upper classmen chicks running around playing field hockey, soccer, gymnastics et cetera. :D BOUNCY BOUNCY!

Worked as a ski instructor through High School and college with all my friends. Tons of hot ski and boarder girls, cutting lineups to freeski all day long with them, free food, parties, showing up hungover on Sundays to teach, vomiting off the chairlift. Good times...

I was once a male prostitue/sex god who had to endure long hours of hardcore ronchy love making with supermodels and all other women that you mere mortals could not satisfy in bed. The pay was great, the work was doable...but just got bored of fucking around all day so here I am at HP....:banghead:

isn't it annoyin though that you're packing so many miles on your car? Eating the value out of your car, not to mention it costs to maintain it + gas

Usually pizza delivery guys dont have the best of cars, they usually buy a 500$ beater to get them from point A to point B. Plus tips usually cover gas.

it was the only way at the time for me to pay for my new 2001 integra. with cars like that, you really dont care about high mileage.

The pizza delivery guys by me have little beaters that the pizza place lets them use. Usually they're older Ford Rangers with these heated caps on the back.

mmmmmmmmmmmm I ate chocolate all day but I only worked for about 6 months because I was only getting about 8-12 hours a week.

hmm, if I worked there i'd probably be a fatty and get zits all over, but be the happiest man in the world. even if you only worked 8-12 hours a week, i'm sure the chocolate paid for itself

Surprisingly, I didnt gain any weight when I worked there. But that was when I was in highschool and worked out 4-5 times a week. And chocolate doesnt cause you to break out. I quit because everyone was super snobby that worked there and they made you take an 11 page written test on their product knowledge. Plus I only got paid $6.00/hour.

the best place I ever worked at is a mortgage firm. When I was a loan tech, and basically what I did was input info from underwriter's approval and make sure everything was right. I had no responsibility because in the end it was all on the underwriter's shoulders, so I could totally botch up a loan and not get in trouble (though I never did, I always tried to make it as accurate as possible) but knowin that I could, there's no stress involved. Also there was barely any work, we had 8 underwriters but after a couple of weeks of working there, 5 of em left/got fired. So basically there was almost never any work. Any given day, there was about an hour of real work. The rest of the time me and the other loan techs would find fun new flash games and play em alll day long. We'd try to beat each other's high scores and stuff. Even the bosses liked us and were like "go ahead and play games! you guys got no work." Every other employee in a different position was piled with work, except us b/c there weren't many underwriters.
One time I got to work, you could hear arcade sounds from our room b/c of the other loan techs playin flash games, and another employee yelled out "Aw great, the rest of us have to work hard as shit while the loan techs get to play games all day." Yep, when you'd walk past by our room you'd just hear video games sounds and explosions goin. Best of all, it was a full time job payin me $15 an hour, while I was only 18. The place itself is cool, a lot of young ppl workin there and it wasn't uptight, everyone greets everyone while walkin by

your whole post was great, but that part made me really laugh hard. man, i would soooo love/hate a job like that.
i would love it because it would be fun for awhile, but then again where is the accomplishment? i guess when you beat your co-workers high score then its an accomplishment.

well, I got promoted to cancellations specialists last summer. I had to work like crazy, the whole summer it was all work. And what I've learned in corporate offices is no matter how hard you work, it's not what you accomplish, it's how well you bs with the bosses to move up. There's always the super hard worker who does all the work (me) but doesn't get any recognition b/c others get along with the boss better.

yea I loved it at first, sometimes it got boring though. The only thing that could fill the void of our boringness was to find a new flash game that was really addictive. One game I got totally hooked on was defend your castle, I didn't do any work for 3 straight days (other loan techs did it for me, they wanted to see how far I could go :iceslolan ). Then there was that 2 fast 2 furious game, that was pretty fun. But those can be fun only for so long. Sometimes the 3 of us would get totally bored of flash games, me and another co-worker were so bored we actually slap boxed in our room for fun (he was 6'3, i was 5'10 but managed to get some mean slaps off). We closed the door b/c that would look very unprofessional

Ahhhhh the American dream...to sit on your ass and get money for free. I worked at McNaziCamp for 7 months and it was the hardest shit job ever. I was the "fry guy." Basically standing in front of an oven with grease and splashing, boiling, fry grease shooting in my face and on my arms whenever it felt like it. Sometimes 8+ hours a day with NO BREAK. Thats illegal! I worked christmas eve 5-11 P.M. then 5A.M.-3P.M. on christmas day at $6.00 an hour with no benifets or extra anything for it. Working all day on thanksgiving was even worse, and a whole nother story. Anywho...thats kinda backwards for this thread, but I just thought I would share haha.

I would have to say that the best job EVER was in the Navy (still in the Navy) but for the first 2 years I was paid to attend electronics school and then a school for a specific weapons system. That was the best. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was getting paid to show up on time, in a uniform, and learn how to blow things up. No other responsibility.... After that I went to a ship and discovered what long hours and responsibility were all about (a good experience, but not the best.) Now I am a corrections officer at a military prison... Not terribly rewarding, but I don't deploy anymore, and I get to come home every night.

The best place I ever worked was FIAT. Until they dicked me around, but I got to go to Maranello and also sit in an Enzo, all because I was an employee of one of the two companies that can claim to owning a stake in Ferrari SpA :p
