here is my Tamiya Porsche Boxster, and my first post in this forum, hope
you guys like it~~

http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31601787.jpg

basically it's a re-boxed old model in yellow plastic.
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31601789.jpg

.....with the only difference shown in the picture below.
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31601792.jpg

I build this model as OOTB, so there will not be any modification for it,
in fact I was just trying to make it as "clean" as possible.

..the body after first coat of prime...
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31955281.jpg

also the bumpers .....
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31955282.jpg

I chose silver for this Boxster instead of yellow, because yellow is
the colour for the taxi here ......... :grinno:
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31955283.jpg

the following 5 pics show the effect of Modeller's clear coat. No parts
in this stage is polished yet.
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31955286.jpg
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/31955287.jpg

I know I sprayed a bit too much clear coat on it  , there
is some kind of "run" accumulated between panels.

to be continued.......

Very nice!
It's best to build your clear coat up in several light coats.
I've wanted one of those kits for a while. but I 've allready got hundreds, so I need another like a another hole in my head...lol

thanks, guys, for your warm welcome, and also for your feedback ~~~ :)

to nervestrikes and suiteR, yes, I do think silver is much better for this one, so I
went back to my paint stock and picked up one silver colour in an old bottle without
lable, which I think is from Modeller's and it looks lighter than the usual silver colour I can find on the market and spreyed
it, and I think the result here looks quite good~~~

To Frerrari TR, yes, and I believe we all have the same problem, I, for example, live
in a room with its walls basically built of out models, so you are not alone there....... :iceslolan

to StephenDali, couple of years ago we still had a dealer who imported the paint from Japan, I bought these paints that time and stored them until today and
they are still quite ok to use...

But the main reason I still have enough stock for my work is that I almost have not
finished one complete model since that time ......... :p

great job on the paint. Question, is primer really nessisary? I ask this because wont it fill up the small grooves in a model?

I just love Alclade II~~~ :)

The rims come with the model look also better in silver, or Chrom to be exact.

thanks guys, for your feedback~~

to cooltc2004, I do find the primer necessary, because it helps the paint stick on the model.

The logic is: the primer sticks well on the plastic surface, while the paint sticks well on
the surface formed by the primer.

And as long as you don't sprey too much( I mean "really much") primer on the car body,
you will not lose any detail.

One more picture for today.

I don't know the real colour of the protection undercoat of Boxster, so I just used grey.......

The underside should be the same color as the body. The instructions should have indicated that. Nice paint detail on the underside. Masking all the detail on the bottom of the chassis is tedious, at best. Looks like you have done some weathering here. Adds a nice effect. (Must be a Georgia car with those red clay stains.)

I do not think he would be driving this car through our backroads here in Georgia!! Great looking build you got going!!!!!!!!

I agree. Your Chrome rims are very clean looking. Really like the Porsche Boxster, hopefully Tamiya will do the new design of it.

Welcome.
Your military modeling skill is evident on the weathering.
Keep up the good work.

thanks guys, for your comments~~ :)

to p9o1r1sche, I know it's indicated in the instruction, but like I said, I used the real car as the reference,
because the real cars I have seen all get out of the factory with a protecting undercoat to prevent
damage caused by the hits of small stones, but since I really have not seen the underside of a Porsche,
it's just my assumption not to paint the underside with the body colour.......

To Cychalen, hi, nice meeting you here, and yes, the skill for building the military model does help, but
not to polishing the body~~ :)

So here is today's progress:

Dashboard and the steering wheel, but since it's still "under construction", you can see
a lot of dust on them~~
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/33937295.jpg

The interior, I used Carrera GT's interior colour as my template and my source of inspiration~~
http://www.pbase.com/qv90/image/32491065.jpg

I personally like the combination of these two colours

Good looking interior! The Carrera GT color scheme is sweet.

Im not trying to sound like an ass or anything. But that orange peel you got in the interior is the same I keep getting with my airbrush. Very fine...I dont know how get it smooth using tamiya acrylics!!!

Flocked carpet would add a great deal of depth to your interior.
Otherwise excellent!
