Alright ladies, listen up....I have been browsing around here for a week or two, and have noticed that everyone is bitching because no one is talking about cars. So here is your chance. Lets make this thread (and maybe ALL threads) about CARS. If anyone has a question about anything besides "what lipstick to wear when driving a yellow car" or "Does anyone know how to turn the glove compartment into a miniature closet?" , then please ask. I really hope that this thread won't turn into a "he said, she said" kind of conversation. I have heard ladies complaining about no one taking them seriously. Maybe if everyone here spoke with the engine and horsepower in mind, that would all change. So here is our chance to let everyone know that we are not airheads and actually care about cars. I hope people reply to this, because if they don't, then I guess the girls here ARE airheads. I mean that with as little disrespect as possible. So with that being said, lets get the questions going...... :p

OKAY, now it's time to put my :2cents: in again. About this whole "girls spot" thread i really like coming here and seeing other females that have the same interest that i do. it's great to sit down and talk to another girl about cars (since you don't see it much in my area) but what i have been noticing (and spoke my mind about it plenty of times already) that the girls spot is crowed with guys who always post threads up about what they think of us females that are involved in this hobby. Personaly, I don't care want anyone thinks about my passion for cars, i'm just out there enjoying myself and i want to learn more. I don't do the things that i do to my car to get attention, i do it for me and my enjoyment. I have mentioned before (in my own thread on this subject) that I think we should keep these perticular topics in one thread. This way people can still post up what they think without taking over "our" spot here on the "girls form" Also, anyone who wants to read about what the guys have to say can feel free to do so, but this helps out with the other people who don't just want to read about it.
About what lancerlady said...I agree 100% with her. We don't come to this form to read about stuff that has nothing to do with cars, but to be honest it's not the other forums (the ones taking about pink stearing cover....) that bother me as much as the ones that constantly give "props to the lady racers...bla bla bla" I say we def. need to have someone step in here and control this forum. Either we should have a forum where only girls are allowed in or have the guys stop posting unnecessary threads.

Amen. Now that we have had a second to get the standards around here, lets get down to the questions. Does anyone here have a problem with their car? A ticking noise that they have never had before? Is your car having anything new happening that you don't know what it is? Anything?
I do have a question....I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer with 8000 miles. I have noticed lately that when I turn around a corner, it kind of ticks. Is it possible that my CV joints are already going out? Is there anything else it could be? (Yes, I did check to see if there is a rock in my tire :wink: )

What you should do girl is take your car to Mitsubishi dealer and tell them to fix it. It sure does sound like it's the CV joints, but damn with only 8000 miles on the car that sux! But yeah def. the CV joints

have you done anything to change the front suspension geometery??? lowering springs, larger tires, change camber or toe angles????

I have a 2 inch drop on the front and rear. I also have 17 inch rims with a 45 series tire. Could that be the problem? Now that I think about it, it has only been "ticking" since i lowered it two months ago.

bingo, it could be the CV joint, however what it probly is is that when you lowered it you moved the CV joints closer to the chassis, so the CV is kinda star shaped when you look at it, with three lobes i think, so as its spinning those lobes are probly hitting something when you go into a turn and the body rolls towards it, turn the wheel to the position it is at when it makes the noise, and see if you can put a light on the CV, now have a large friend stand on the door sill and bounce the car, as the body comes down towards the CV see if you can find anything that might be coming close enough to it for it to make contact while driving, and see if you can move it away from the CV. If not, write the company that made the lowering kit, and ask why this wasnt something they would have warned you about. see if you can maybe get somethin from em for free :)

Thank you for the great advice. If that doesn't work, I'm screwed because I bought the springs off of ebay for about $50. The brand name is Sprint. I heard that those are good springs. Am I right?

as far as the company, i cant say as ive heard of em, but i focus mostly on engine tech, so suspension companies arent really my thing, all i know of is really eibach and hotchkiss.

FIRST OFF i'm bitching only because i'm tired of hearing guys talk about giving girls props and so on...at least i give some kind of advice. what did you do...yeah maybe my advice wasn't the best of advice, but i don't know all that much about CV joints (and i'm sure you have no clue what it is otherwise you could of given her the best advice, which you didn't) i can help out anything that has to do with engine crap because that's what i mostly know. sorry ms dayna!!! and about the GUYS coming in the thread to help out, that's what i like...FOR THEM TO HELP OUT, not to try and hit on us or give us "oh i love grils who work on their cars, it's sooo sexy"

No one cares who helps us fix our cars as long as it gets fixed. Whether it is a male or female who helps us. So did you have something productive to say? Or were you just wasting your breath?

And do I really sound like I know nothing about cars? How many MEN do you girls have PMing you, and AIMing you asking you advice on their cars?

I used to spend all my time in car related sections (240sx, rx-7, etc.) but got sick and tired of answering questions for lazy people that can look up the answer themselves. In the year and almost 3000 posts that I have posted, I've actually asked less than 5 questions about a car I've owned. And if I actually had to ask a question, that ment that I spent at least 30 min trying to find the answer myself but couldn't so those questions rarely ever got answered because no one else knew.

The reason we DO care so much about guys giving us props is maybe we aren't like you and aren't into the whole fact of "hooking" our cars up to get guys attention. We want to learn about them, work on them, and be around them. We do it because we have fun doing it, not because we want attention from guys. I am in this whole hobby because of the enjoyment of making my car go fast and then faster the next month. I don't do it because guys get hard ons when i say i like cars. So thats why i have such a big issue with guys coming on the forum blowing up the same damn topic. It doesn't bother me that they are coming on or helping us out, or even posting to our threads, but it pisses me off when they constantly make threads on the same crap when they should keep it under one thread. That's all i have been trying to say and you people (DAYNA) always make it seem that we (me and lancer) have issues with guys coming on here...whatever i'm not going to keep this up. This is the last time i'll be talking about it.

Oh and Dayna, the only reason you have almost 3000 post is because you make stupid post like this ones. I don't care how many guys IM you or PM you about car questions. I'm happy for you that guys are coming to you for answers. Puts them right in there spot that girls do and can know their stuff, but you really crossed the line with me with that first post and now i've lost all respect for you. and pretty much lost respect with this forum. Good comeback. Too bad I already explained that I dont post about car stuff on this forum anymore. If you want to waste your time checking up on me, check the posts that I've made in the RX-7 forum. Did you even read the lesbian porn thread? Obviously not if you are saying I was trying to get attention from it. And yes about 80% (probably close to 95%) of the RECENT (past 6 months) posts I've made were off-topic. okay i'm going to clear this up once and for all. And then i would like to leave this one alone. The reason lancerlady03 and I are getting so bent out of shap over this convo. is because you put me down on the advice i gave her. Also, not to meantion you put words in my mouth saying we bitch about guys coming onto the girls forum and posting. That's not exactly what i have been saying. I don't mind guys coming on here, and to be honest with you i think it's a great idea. i've learned most of my stuff from guys. I just can't stand when it's the guys who only talk about how exciting it makes them when a girl is interested in cars. Granted, i understand why but must they constantly make threads about it and post about it?
And the whole reason i'm kind of ticked off about the comment you said about the advice i gave someone else is for the simple fact that i just don't understand why if you know so much about cars you would have to be bitter about the advice i gave her.
