Van has 69k, has had a shudder when shifting up from 1-2.
Dealer changed fluid, still there.
Any clues?

There was a tcm update for a 1-2 shudder.

I would think the dealer would know that, and do it instead of a fluid change.
How much would a dealer charge to update the tcm?

probably 60 to 80 bucks, depends on the labor rate in your area. Should be an hour.

what exactly is a shudder? Trani slipping? Cause I think that's what happening with my 96 Caravan.. (between 1 and 2) and I even noticed it give it a jolt one..

The shudder is a slight vibration that you feel throughout the van just as 2nd gear engages.

hmm.. that might be what's going on with mine.. the trani was supposively rebuilt 3 years ago by the previous owner... I sure hope I don't need to get that done :( Maybe a good trani oil change will do it some good?

Mine shuddered like that for a little while. With these transmissions, from what I have heard, it could be a sign of the torque converter starting to fail. My fix ended up being a new tranny because of that failure. Another problem that I've heard is putting the incorrect fluid in. Since you had yours done at the dealer, I don't see that as your problem. Good luck.
