Does anyone know if it would be possible to get an old GST/GSX turbo and put it in a 2000 GS, i also wanted to try and convery my car into AWD. I'm wondering if i can get everything i need for the conversion from an old GSX. I plan on getting the parts from a junkyard or ebay, it seems this method of putting a turbo in could be alot cheaper.

why not just go buy a GSX?

that will give you an answer on the AWD part.
you could probably use the turbo but i wouldnt. if im not mistaken, the stock turbo is like a 16g. and the stock GSX has like 210hp. that turbo is pretty small

Ya i know it is small but it will be good for now and inexpensive and then i can just upgrade the turbo later, how is that not a good idea?

what do u mean by a GST/GSX turbo?
Do u mean a T-25 turbocharger, or the 4G63 engine with the T-25?

the older eclipse's 1 and 2 gen's are positioned opposite to ours. i doubt you could get it in there without alot of custom work. wouldnt be cost effective. just turbo it!

i alrdy had a shop look at it and they were the ones that suggested it to me even, they said it would be much less inexpensive to do then a new full turbo, and not hard to put in either.

all you need are flange adapter kits for whatever turbo u want to run, and the matching exhjaust mani.

ummm if ur gunna turbo from scratch, go w/ the big 16G turbo or something along those lines, don't use the stock one, because its REALLY SMALL for the kinda power you'll want to make, however they ARE a dime a dozen if you know where to look, imo go w/ the AAI turbo kit

Yes ofcourse a bigger turbo is better, but your missing the point of $$$. I dont have 5 grand to spend on a turbo, i can get a gst/gsx turbo put in for under a 1000 and upgrade later when i have the money. And any turbo in my car even a small stock turbo is gona make a sizable difference.

well, i disagree with elchicoloco86....the T-25 has become infamous for being really small, but with the right tuning, it can put down sizeable power and has minimal spool time of any turbo out there. 16Gs are a lot bigger, but running high psi on non-4g63 engines may pose a engine-busting hazard... the 4g63 is capable of withstanding enormous boost without upgrading the internals when compared to other engines out there, so saying a 16G would be a better option is baseless if you cant run over 6 psi on it. Im running my T-25 at 17psi, and Im loving it.
I would reccomend the 14B....its a little bigger, but no by much, and the price difference between the t-25 and the 14 b is minimal, since both were stock parts on mitsu cars.

i was pretty sure the t-25 maxed at 15psi...but sure, anyways a 16g you can pick up for 600$ not...5000$... i'm not saying a t-25 is bad at all, i just don't think it is large enough to fit the application, also larger turbos push more hp at lower psi...iono why, they just do so instead of turning up the boost, just go slightly larger and reap the benfits of a larger turbo or at least a 14b ported (1g GS turbo and GSX)
also, if your thinking you can do your entire turbo kit for 1000 not including labor...you have very high hopes, cuz you'll still need to tune it w/ at least a greddy piggyback system and that is half your 1000$ budget right there
good luck

this is a old thread but. If I remeber correctly you will kill the life out of the stock gst/gsx turbo faster than a bigger turbo. bigger to me is more reasonable. more power at less psi is better than the same power at a high psi, imo. ie-honda/acura torque (no power until 6500rpms) if i am wrong correct me somebody, and if i did not help...somebody else will...

these old threads :disappoin....i assume you ment the gs-t, not gts. in which casde, the gsx and gst share the same manifold and everything else. the manifold will work on the 4G64 with a 16g. anything bigger will hit eh a/c gimmick.
smaller tubo=less lag. the 16g is a pretty gamn good turbo and has the track record to prove it.
Revolution- c'mon man, your killing me with these old threads.

you could pick up a T3 turbo for around 350$ or a T3/T4 turbo hybrid for 425 on the internet, if you want to go 14b i can send you one for about 125 or so, but a 14b is the absolute smallest i would go w/ a 2.4 turbo, the guys w/ turbo KA24de engines won't go smaller than that and i've only heard of one setup that small

not too small tho. there no need to be spooling high at 2k rpms
