Help - Break lights stay on

hey ppl i just got a 90 REX and when i turn on my lights or driving lights my break lights come on (bright like im breaking or stopping) and when my lights isnt on i dont think they work. . . any help!?!?

did you recently change the bulbs back there, if you did you prolly just turned the bulbs upside down, if not you got a wire crossed.

those bulbs wont go in backwards, look on the petal and see if the little plastic numb came off that activates the switch... although if it did it should stay on all the time, but you never know.

he couldve forced it, cuz ive seen it happen many times.

i felt all around the break pedal on the back side of it and everything i didnt find no plastic numb? i dont even know what it is....plz help

okay, so where do i get one of those? and also is there anything else i could use for it like 'half ass' say a screw? ect..

yeah you could use anything you can get to fit on it and stay, even like a piece of plastic and some duct tape.

oh yeah if you want a real one go to a honda dealership they will have them.

how much are they? and what is behind there? like a little hole? or what?

not sure how much they are, you could get one at a junk yard for pretty much nothing, it just snaps in a hole I believe.

use a one of the plastic clips that hold your wheel well splash guards in. they are like a clip with a plastic screw in the middle of it. they work perfectly, and they got my friend out of a jam once. he has a 95 civic, which has two of those sensors on the clutch pedal. its for neutral safety. well his both must have rotted out, and fell off while he was driving. then when he got offa work, he couldnt start it. when i got there, i checked all kinda stuff, and finally saw the plastic on the floormat. so i got two clips off of his splashguards in the wheel well, and used them. hes still driving today with them, and they are a lot stronger than the stock clips

i just checked...and behind my break i dodnt feel anything....not even a hole for a plastic piece...bit i got my big ass under there and looked straight up and where the break pedal rests on...is that a button? or does that little knob just keep it from pulling back too far?

it will be on the front side of the brake pedel up tward the dash.

No that's not it, if the switch was stuck in your lights wouldn't come on. I'll try to get a pic posted.

if its stuck..its stuck out...plz get a pic that would help greatly.

Here we go, the switch is at the top of the circle and the button is attached to the brake pedal towards the bottom of the circle.

but, you said they go off when you turn your lights off, your brake lights arnt on that circuit because they come on even when your car is not running. Are you sure that the brake light is or or is the brake lights just not working? They are on the same fuse as the horn so if your horn works the fuse is good.

i need the pic of the fuse box for different reasons....and my break lights is on even without my lights on...found out today..

i figured it out now..the hole is on the metal piece the pedal is attached to...and ur lil white knob is black on mine. .
